Right, so turns out there is a standard event coming up the 26th, and since it usually takes at least a week to get cards over from the US, and I don't have a competitive standard deck yet, I am in kind of hurry to throw something playable together The basic idea popped up when i noticed "hey, these detain guys are all humans!" which first led to throwing champion of the parish into azorius, but then after some tweaking I have come up with the initial list below. The idea is to use the control of Azorius to keep my enemy in check, while the champions run them through before they have a board set up and at the same time keeping the hitters ahead of the competition by regularly dropping more humans, simply zerging them as plan B if they get rid of the champs. 4 x champion of the parish 3 x azorius arrester 2 x new prahv guildmage 4 x crusader of odric 3 x lyev skyknight 3 x fiend hunter 3 x thraben doomsayer 2 x azorius justiciar 3 x angel of jubilation 2 x captain of the watch Creatures: 2 x 9 2 x honor of the pure (ok, turns out i need to replace this entirely, but with what? ) 3 x oblivion ring 1 x detention sphere 1 x ajani, caller of the pride 1 x increasing devotion spells: 8 lands: to be added once I know how much i will need of each. Any suggestions are welcome. No, restoration angel is just outside my budget

So far the only thing that comes close to honor of the pure in standard is Angel of Jubilation

Hm, true, I don't know why i thought Glorious anthem was M13. Suggestions for what I could replace them with? and thoughts on the deck otherwise?

Elite Inquisitor is a good one or Precinct Captain a MUST is Silverblade Paladin maybe get Restoration Angel for quick saves. I have some fun with Fiend Hunter . Since you're running a lot of humans you shouldn't really need Thraben Doomsayer. If you are looking for exile get either Detention sphere or more o-rings. EDIT: I just saw what you said about Resto Angel. lol Cloudshift works just the same but without the creature.

Hm, however Thraben doomsayer has the benefit that it makes both the crusader of odric and champion of the parish bigger every single turn. Also, I have been looking at gather the townsfolk and cathars´ crusade in conjuction with the "human swarm" aspect of the deck, thoughts?

Gather the Townsfolk is better than Thraben imo. Because it's 2 creatures that turn, and have 4 of them in the deck. Also, Captain's Call would be a good one. Cathars' Crusade on the other hand I wouldn't. Manacurve is to high. Try to limit it down if you can to 4 mana cost at the highest if you have no mana-ramp or card draw. That way you can play everything quickly and try to turn 4 someone.

Thanks a lot for the advice, and while i follow your argument, and really love using Captain's call in my mtgo deck, I do mind that it makes soldiers, not humans, and so only synergizes with The angel of jubilation, if we assume that Captain of the watch is too expensive at 6cmc. Precinct captain has the same "problem", although it is a 2/2 first striker for 2 mana, so he is still value enough on his own. Any thoughts on creature-to-spells ratio? Already made sure to get my hands on Cloudshift , however with this many creatures it also seems to limit what there is room for. What should the main functions of the spells be in this? Also, current edition of the sideboard: riders of gavony Elite inquisitor faith's reward (amounts of each not determined yet) The two first ones are obvious; They get out zombies, I get out anti-zombies. And Faith's reward is to deal with any decks I might come across that features sweepers. But, I am frankly not very much into all this sideboarding buisiness, so any help getting that sorted would also be apreciated.

Here's how I'd have it. x4 Champion of the Parish x4 Elite Inquisitor x4 Silverblade Paladin x4 Angel of Jubilation x4 Knight of Glory x4 Riders of Gavony (It's debatable for 2) Other Spells: x4 Cloudshift x4 Faith's Shield x2 Faith's Reward (A lot of people are running Supreme Verdict x4 Oblivion Ring x2 Terminus (Just in case they are might be running tokens or you get into those standstill games) And if only 2 Riders of Gavony run 2 Safe Passages. Sideboard: x4 Paraselene x4 Precinct Captain x4 Elder Cathar Because NOONE wants to block him lmao Also I've found Soul Tithe to be REALLY annoying if they are running Thragtusks or Angel of Serenity.

I have to agree, that deck is indeed nice! I don't know if I would put knight of glory in main over precinct captain , since you are not running an exalted theme and seems like you would want to attack with more than one creature most of the time, prot from black is nice...aganst black.
