So, ignoring Shadowchu's whining (I never noticed his custom title before, it's hilariously appropriate), I've figured out how to tell when a card is going through a temporary bubble.

Thundermaw Hellkite is on TCGplayer/magiccards.info for 34 low 40 high, and Hellrider is on there for 8 to 11, respectively. We'll know for sure if the top end increases.

Lol who am I kidding? They're both red, they'll be worth $10 and $.50 come Gatecrash.

It really is a dream....and one never to become a reality. If it does, Wizards will be out of business and that is not what we want as players.

My Zombies list was budget before the components doubed in price and people added Hellkites. RDW was budget AND reasonably competitive in Lowryn-Alara and Alara-Zendikar.

Yeah, there is a real market for magic cards. Not like the good old days when you could get strong standard cards cheap. Wait, when was that?

stop crying.

I actually got tens of thousands of dollars worth of cards from my friend's stoner brother for $50 a couple years ago.

Before you call me unethical, I overbid someone who would've bought them for $40. And it's not like the dude's fiscal problems aren't his own creation because you could say he has a habit of his money *sunglasses* going up in smoke. YEEEEAAAAHHHH!

And the point is?

Zombies was developed at the end of the last meta game specifically to beat Delver. If you were on board with that from the beginning then congrats but that's how playing the market works. Cards go up and down based on how many people are playing them. Saying a $50 Jace is out of your budget is perfectly acceptable and saying the now $25 Jace is out of your price range is still acceptable. If you want to be competitive but low budget you have to be very good at predicting the meta and what will beat it. You can't expect one deck to be good for the life of the meta however based on you don't have the money or are unwilling to spend money to play the top tier deck. If this is a problem for you invest money into an eternal format where meta shifts are a lot slower. There are modern decks that aren't that much money that will be competitive for a long time.

Honestly... I do see some of the issues brought up by the OP - they can be frustrating - even though I don't necessarily agree with it. Before dismissing it as whining, please consult a dictionary before making yourself look like an arrogant ****.
