This round is significantly harder for me that I thought it would be.  I'll get my submission in on time though.

ROUND NINETEEN GRADES
--- --- --- ---

Lobster667 = Soma of the Serene Glade = snow/green = the +2 is odd; doesn't protect her (assuming "soma" is female); but can slow down an opponent a little if he's running a lot of non-basics.. -- I would prefer it lasting until the beginning of your next upkeep; much better chance of getting use out of your shenanigans; also makes your emblem easier for you to use; can still use your own non-basics after you've created the emblem -- the -4 seems so random; adding the three green(snow) mana and then adding an extra ability to all other snow permanents you control.. at that time.. doesn't affect any snow permanents entering later; am a little worried about memory issues there (especially since you're presumably running an all-or-almost-all snow deck)

Habreno = Adakar, Master of the Ice = snow = there are five cards in print that already use "ice counters"; and some of them aren't snow permanents ( Iceberg and Woolly Razorback ); only Rimefeather Owl uses ice counters in a way consistent with your use; is very confusing to use weird counters like that when they already have a place in the game; should have just called them "snow counters" to keep them separate -- the "until the second upkeep.." phrase is going to get so confusing so quickly; it will be very hard to effectively follow and still have the game be fun -- your emblem should be "whenever" so it triggers each time.. instead of just the first "when"; additionally, specifying that it creates a snow mana is redundant: it necessarily creates snow mana by being a snow permanent; should just be "it adds an additional mana of any color to your mana pool"; already a given that it will be snow mana

SimonGlume = Selune, the White Queen = snow = cmc 2 is always risky.. -- turning everything snow to get a snow mana feels kinda random; it does suddenly make a snow deck crazy easy to activate costs, though -- the -2 is very strong (and also very nicely snow in flavor); glad it will be hard to abuse; and that effect for just the mana cost of the planeswalker is reasonable if you want to use her as a sorcery -- the emblem is nice; you get a lot of free mana (especially if your opponent is running snow, too) -- she's an interesting pro-mana snow design with a touch of snowy lockdown; the ultimate is the best ability but hard to get up to; the -2 is useful but mostly is you cast her as a sorcery; the +1 is pro-snow but isn't immediately kill -- nicely balanced

AzureShade = Shivra the Cold = since she's clearly looking for a snow tribal deck, would prefer if the +1 didn't allow blocking or attacking by non-snow; more flavorful to think she whips up a quickie blizzard that halts all non-snow, rather than just throws a snowball in blockers' eyes.. -- the -2 is a very interesting idea; direct planeswalker hate other than Dreadbore .. interesting.. and has the flavor of snowy lockdown -- the emblem doesn't rock me that much, though; maybe it's just a matter of my play circles, but how often is being countered really that huge of a deal? adding a double mana cost to prevent countering.. as your ultimate on a cmc 4 planeswalker whose other abilities aren't killer.. -- I'm just not very into the ultimate; I know being uncounterable is a nice addition (hey, Terra Stomper is always fun) but dedicating an ultimate to it, where you'll still have to pay to get the benefit each time.. anticlimactic

ROUND TWENTY
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Winners' Round B.

There have been 36 winners to date.  Let's recreate their glory.

Criteria = Pick one of the color combinations from a previous round's winner, and design a planeswalker using those colors.

Twists = ALL TWISTS APPLY.  [1] Previous winners cannot re-use their own winning color combinations; [2] Return of the ninja: Identify which previous win you are using; no one else can use that option after you've chosen it.  For example: There have been two colorless winners; so, there may be two colorless submissions this time; however, there can be only two; to help keep track, you must identify which previous winning design you are using to set your color(s) for this round; [3] Return of elegance; each ability has to be confined to one line of text (line on the forum; not line on a printed card).

All previous winners are noted in the first post.  For your convenience, that list is recreated below in alphabetical order (to help ensure you don't choose a color combination you have won with before).

Koridian- this has been an epic contest. I really enjoyed it and feel like I learned a lot about planeswalker design. Cheers for an amazing job! Thanks!

I'm going to go with 3-7-15-1-292's Muran Lifecaller

Elemar, the Unleashed
Planeswalker-Elemar.
+1: Put 3 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens onto the battlefield.
-5: Creatures you control get +3/+3 and gain haste, vigilance and trample until end of turn.
-8: You get an emblem with "Creatures you control may deal combat damage as if they aren't blocked."

thanks
am glad people got into and enjoyed
i know my comments aren't always useful, but i try to point out things that might not have come to mind during design to help future designs -- glad it works at least a little

It really was an epic contest.  I wasn't able to participate in all rounds, but I wish I had.  A few times as I've been grading the Simic Lab entries I would stop and think "What would Koridian say?"

My hat is off to you sir for the effort and time required to run something like this.

Claiming: AzureShade with Kassim, Rotmonger ()

Griselda, The Hag of Rootwood
Planeswalker -  Griselda
[+1]: Target opponent discards a card. If they do, you gain life equal to its converted mana cost.
[-2]: destroy target creature.  If you do, draw a card.
[-8]: Until end of turn you may play permanents without paying their mana costs.
[4]

Design Notes: Spoiler: Show

The first ability was meant to represent divining of the future and using her dark knowledge to manipulate fate.  The second ability is to reflect the rather gruesome ways she gathers power with a nod at Haruspex (reading guts). In folklore, Hags tend to offer up their magic for a price.  The ultimate was to reflect the "getting what you want" after meeting her price.

Perfect originality is overrated and often ugly. The best and most beautiful cards I've ever seen were clearly inspired by something else.

Cards are not entirely unlike living organisms in this regard. All the good ones are a result of long evolution; the 'original' ones are either monocellular or mutant aberrations.

Graveborn are strictly better than Zombies. I mean, look at that wicked beard . You try growing that when your dead. And I know aging fellows who are suffering from Male Pattern Baldness, who would kill for a Mop like Ribsy's over there.
