For me it is all about variety. I could care less how "good" or "bad" a deck is, I just want to play different decks vs. different decks. I hate playing vs. the same deck 5 out of 6 times because everyone runs it or someone just keeps playing the same deck over and over. I like variety, this gives variety. I also think that it brings out the best in players (which is why I run random tournaments for Steam) as the player has to play all different styles and against all different styles to win. If you don't believe me, go ask the participants of my tournament who have told me time and time again that the way I set my tournaments up really brings out the best in every player. This is mainly due to the randomness of deck selection. This is why I want a forced random option that can be chosen by the host. Don't wanna play random? Don't join my game that I am hosting/host your own without random. Please, give us a forced random option!

I especially hate how people are still clinging to the belief that Dream Puppets is a good deck in 1v1. You'd think that after I beat them several times in a row, they'd try a different deck. Nope...

If it were ever a good deck in duels, I imagine Grinning Malice, Sepulchral Strength, and Grim Procession have largely destroyed that. Between Demigod of Revenge , Mortivore , Lord of Extinction , and Necromancer's Covenant , I couldn't see myself as running DP as anything but a strict control build, with Mind Control , Body Double , Clone and Jace's Phantasm as the win-cons. Might still run Telemin Performance for the extra creatures.

It is still great in 2hg even with all those decks. You just have to change your play style to less mill and more control. Credit to Stevo for a solid build.

I run a control build of DP (I posted it in the thread a while ago) and it does alright. Better than the mill versions. Still not that great.
It's always been good in 2HG, sure, but that's a completely different story (And why I said "in 1v1").

-1 to this.
If you want random decks, just spin the wheel.
If wish to force people into playing decks they may dislike for your own satisifaction, then I have no respect for your opinion. People have the right to play whatever decks they want. That you find them tiresome is your issue.
If you want random decks as yet another playlist, then that will split the playerbase even further (we have MP 7 modes as is) and I won't support that.
...I mean really, this is such an overblown issue for something that not only barely impacts on the game's enjoyment as is, but is actually semi-supported anyway by allowing you to spin the wheel. ]
It's just a place for people who want to play random to get together and play each other. Let the Spikes rule the leaderboards, and let the Johnnys have a random mode.

Spinning the wheel is about as effective as choosing the same deck over and over (as that is often what it will spin onto for some reason). People do have the right to play w/e they want. They also have the right to play a non-random game as opposed to playing vs. someone who has the right to choose random that wants to play vs. random. Steve, your arguments are lame and are more like attacks on others than an actual argument (maybe you should chill a little, it helps, I promise). I don't think it is an overblown issue, I just think a lot of people want this option. If you don't like it, don't play it...simple as that. For those of us that DO like it, we want that option.
I agree with Hakeem, add the option and let everyone be happy. There's always a couple people who complain no matter what, but they generally complain about everything regardless.

The first DOTP allowed you to create lobbies where you could adjust the starting hand size, life total, etc. It didn't seem to break the game in half.
So I highly doubt being able to click a box so that your lobby says "Random" - like how there's a box for "AI Takeover" on PS3 - would be a massive undertaking or would take more than a dozen lines of code.
Sheesh.

Weeeeeeelll...a bit more than a dozen, but not the world's most back-breaking task. I assure you the AI is a much greater hassle, but then again some of the bugs going unfixed now would be easier to fix than adding random deck pairing matches, so I'm not sure I'd get my hopes up.

I'm so glad to see the overwhelming support for this option. I can't think of an easier solution than just clicking on a box and all people's decks disappear. If the room say's it's random then just join a room that isnt. Also doing it this way mean's it's universal throughout all modes just the way it should be. I can't see how any of the "pro" players wouldnt want this. It forces you to have your decks trimmed and ready. It also rewards those who have unlocked all the cards since you never know what deck you will get.
I think the people have spoken. Someone raise the Sean Signal.
