So I read 3 pages of this thread and then got bored so I skipped to the end and I have NO idea where this conversation has gotten to.

On a side note, does anyone want to help me with my Grixis control deck? Some guy at FNM claims electromancer is the shiz.

post a list somewhere and let's see what you've got.

So I made this list pre-electromancer advice, and I figure he's worth a try. Also I'd like another Olivia but sadly am lacking one.

1x Swamp
5x Island
3x Mountain
4x Steam Vents
4x Blood Crypt
1x Dragonskull Summit
3x Sulfur Falls
4x Drowned Catacombs
2x Desolate Lighthouse      //Is drownyard better? This deck is already good vs. control

2x Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker    //One?
3x Jace, Architect of Thought
2x Tamyio, the Moon Sage

4x Syncopate
2x Dissipate
2x Thoughtflare
3x Think Twice
2x Forbidden Alchemy
4x Izzet Charm
1x Ultimate Price

2x Rakdos Keyrune

1x Olivia Voldaren
4x Snapcaster Mage    //My expressed goal in standard is to play decks with no less than 4 Snapcasters

Sideboard     //I'm awful at these

2x Rakdos Return
2x Negate
2x Underworld Connections
3x Vampire Nighthawk     //Can I afford this?
2x Sever the Bloodline
2x Dreadbore
2x Essence Scatter

My deck seems pretty bad vs. Jund. They land a Return and it's all over.

Electromancer is good if you tune your deck to play him, but even so he's just a 2/2 that dies when you cast sweepers (if you do that). Drownyards is too good not to play, Loothouse is also a good card. I think 2/1 in favor of Drownyards.
Your deck also has a lot of Flashback cards when you are playing 4 Snapcaster Mages. Needs more Searing Spear. And Rewind.

4 izzet charms is always too many

and yes, drownyard is most definitely better.
Blue is the best color ever.  How do you deal?

you should not play 4 charms because the card isn't good enough to justify running enough.... i'm not going into a long winded explanation about why, there are a lot of articles out there explaning it.  it's ok as a 1 or 2 of because it can be nice in some random situations when you might happen to need one particular mode, but it doesn't do one thing well enough (like azorius charm, for example) that you can justify running more than a couple.

What B_F said. None of the modes are good enough by themselves to be considered worth running it as a 4 of.

Most of the times you use the mode to counter stuff, you would have been better off with something like Negate or Dispel .

Most of the times you use the mode to burn a creature, you would have been better off with something like Pillar of Flame or Searing Spear .

Most of the time you use the looting mode, you would have been better off with something like Faithless Looting .

The only real advantage that Izzet Charm has over any of these is that it gives you multiple options, which can be beneficial at times. Most of the time though, where you want it for a specific mode in a specific matchup, you are just better off using the cards listed above, since they are better at doing those individual things than Izzet Charm is.

For this reason 1-2 generally tends to be the best number to run.
