It has uses, but "reducing the number of cards in your library" isn't one. What I can think of: Terravore and Tarmogoyf Sun Titan and Crucible of Worlds (the latter being especially good with Azusa, Lost but Seeking ) Threshold Landfall

IMO, anytime you have a card that let's you look through your library and put a particular card in play you are in good shape.
That being said, I think these kinds of land are only useful if you run a multicolor deck. But really, do you see a lot of mono-color decks?
