Populate seems so cludgey that I am not really all that fond of it. I also really like to keep my token decks in either red for kuldotha rebirth or in black for bitterblossom or lingering souls .

Trying to use it as intended though, can anyone improve on this list?

4 doomed traveler
4 Tukatongue Thallid
4 gather the townsfolk
4 raise the alarm
2 Rhys the Redeemed
2 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice

4 swords to plowshares
4 intangible virtue
2 sundering growth
2 overrun
2 rancor
1 wurmcalling
1 Ooze Garden

4 plains
4 forest
4 Temple Garden
4 Sunpetal Grove
4 Razorverge Thicket
4 Selesnya Sanctuary

If your creature tokens are mainly 1/1 creatures without abilities, then you're definitely ~not~ using populate as intended.. You would have to play cards that care about 1/1 creature tokens like Sigil Captain or cards that care about your token's quantity instead of their quality..

Geist-Honored Monk or Captain of the Watch + Cloudshift or Conjurer's Closet = lots more tokens

Their mana costs are probably too high for this deck, and you don't have enough targets for blinking effects..
