This is probably one of my favorite decks I have been toying around with, but I am having a bit of trouble vs the more aggressive RDW and Rakdos aggro decks even with 4x Huntmaster and 4x Thragtusk and also don't really know which role blue plays in the deck. Do I use syncopates and other counter magic, or more bounce oriented with cyclonic rifts, or go the tamiyo/jace planeswalker route. The decklist is a bit updated from this video (all the UW flash decks going around forced me to put in caverns and negates) but the core is still pretty much the same. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The problem with such a deck is that neither of the elements is particularly powerful by its self. For example, if you draw a peddler, it won't do much work without a staticaster, and if you draw a staticaster, it won't do much work without peddler. Given a lack of strong dig/tutoring in the format, such a deck isn't really a good idea unless you just want to screw around at FNM.

You are devoting 8 card slots to cards that do very little on their own (unless you play against Zombies or something similar), without a way to fetch them out of your library. Its also really fragile, with half the combo being a 1/1 creature.

Actually I have found that if I pair peddler with basically anything in the deck it becomes quite the powerhouse, even huntmaster tokens. Izzet Staticaster is VERY underrated right now. There are plenty of relevant targets in standard plus the card draw and control in this deck is all about stabilizing until either you get the combo or one of your finishers hits the board.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think that's a legitimate argument against Ultimate Price. All the other removal sucks against Tusk too; that's how he's built. As long as Price hits most other stuff you need to be hitting, even crappy Terrors warrant use.

I respect your opinion on Ultimate Price but the reason people aren't running it because of multicolor in Return to Ravnica. And then there's Undying too. It's just not amazing right now in the format.

with regards to ultimate price, you're overlooking the most important aspect of why the card isn't very good. creatures are too good and have too many CIP abilities for there to be any sort of favorable exchange.
its still a valid card to run against certain well played threats in the format, like thundermaw hellkite, craterhoof behemoth, restoration angel, and a few others. but that said, it's obviously no doom blade.

As much as I hate to agree with FD, I think he meant immediately before rotation. Although at the time, then only deck that even ran black was zombies.

The combo is fine, just fragile. If there were a GSZ or something similar in standard I'd be much more of an advocate for it than I am. That way you could run 2 or so and still be able to find them when you wanted.
