It really is annoying because I am a Goblins player, I enjoy playing a strong deck and fast deck. I have gotten sooo many messages from people i have beaten in 1v1 who say I'm a noob or I can only play noob decks and that i have no skill. I've been playing paper magic for 10+ years, i have played every DOTP since the 2009 release, I have been ranked top 100 1v1 in the 1st 2 DOTP's and am currently in the top 300's on the 2013. I am not a noob, nor do I strictly use the more powerful decks. Being a Goblin player I know the weakness's of GG. BoF holds its own against it, Collective Might(token version) holds its own against it, SS easily holds its own, OD with cards like infest ruin GG. there are so many decks in 2013 that have answers for GG but no one bothers to even try because by turn 3 the score is 14-20 and their board is empty and i have 3 goblins out, and they just complain that they won't be able to come back and they quit and leave dissrespectful messages. I've beaten GG while using Sky and Scale! and Sky and scale is a pretty slow deck with very few removal spells. if Sky and Scale can best GG 80% of the other decks can too. Seriously though, stop bitc*ing and complaining about GG, if you are one of those people who send messages and roll your eyes when you see a goblin on the other side of the board do everyone a favor and just keep it to yourself, if you don't like Goblins don't play goblins, if you are a good enough player you'll know its just another deck like every other one and it has its weakness's. No one should feel ashamed of playing a dam* deck because of the incoming hate mail from untalanted magic players. GG players, play Goblins with your head held high and have fun, because thats what this game is about is having fun, and there is no fun in constantly getting frowned upon by others because they don't know how deal with aggro decks. My suggestion to all of those "GG Haters" out there, you can either get better at Magic and deal with decks you don't like playing against, or quit the game. no one will miss you and your immature messages to players just trying to have a good time.
As I said before, playing goblins does not mean you are a bad player, but winning with goblins does not demonstrate that you are a good player.
^This. Sorry PO5TMAN, play what you like and just ignore the haters who spam you. I hate Goblins as a rule, but I don't go out of my way to berate people who choose to play them. I just concede and move on. Until I lose to them twice... then I play Goblins!!!

The difference is that a good goblin player can win games by playing around multiple sweepers, counters or removal. You could draw the same hand vs 3 different decks and need to play them differently. A bad player will lose some of these games where as a good player can squeeze out more wins. I do agree though goblins just like a few other decks can get some hands that are just unbeatable.

To me, the biggest problem with GG is that most decks come alive turn 3 or 4, where as GG seems to be the only deck where the game is wrapped up before turn 3 or 4. Yeah it has bad match ups, but a well tuned GG deck is nigh on unstoppable.
If the deck was a turn or 2 slower i wouldn't have that much of a problem...or if it wasn't loaded with haste...or prot from blue...or Goblin grenade...
The deck is beatable but it seems to out pace everything by a country mile. Turn 1 haste 2/2 always gets a sigh from me. Especially followed up by a turn 2 warren instigator and turn 3 goblin chieftan.

By the way, did somebody seriously thought about "appropriate" goblins? Much slower build, that deliberately can't win anything in first 4 moves?

Oh, you mean by playing a terrible deck? I certainly wouldn't do that.

It crossed my mind to try something like that, but yeah the deck isn't meant to be played that way... Any conceivable late game strategy won't be as efficient as aggro. It isn't even really a matter of speed. Most of the best cards are cheap and there just aren't enough late game cards to form a strategy around. Though that's assuming Siege-Gang Commander isn't too slow for aggro.

"As I said before, playing goblins does not mean you are a bad player, but winning with goblins does not demonstrate that you are a good player"
This is the gospel truth. I don't hate GG, but if you win, in most cases it's because you had a God draw of all your chieftains in a row. That's not to say I don't like aggro decks, PI, PK, and GM are all great fun to play against. But I feel like actually decision making may account for 10% of GG wins, if that. There have been dozens of losses where I was really amazed my opponents play and congratulated them heartily, because those moves were amazing. I have never felt that way after a GG loss, beacause I could see it coming from miles away.

I agree most of goblins wins can be played on autopilot. It is that 10% you talk about that make a difference. I will try to dig out my tournament report of goblins where i faced a grave titan for 3 turns and still won, it was epic.
