It really is annoying because I am a Goblins player, I enjoy playing a strong deck and fast deck. I have gotten sooo many messages from people i have beaten in 1v1 who say I'm a noob or I can only play noob decks and that i have no skill. I've been playing paper magic for 10+ years, i have played every DOTP since the 2009 release, I have been ranked top 100 1v1 in the 1st 2 DOTP's and am currently in the top 300's on the 2013. I am not a noob, nor do I strictly use the more powerful decks. Being a Goblin player I know the weakness's of GG. BoF holds its own against it, Collective Might(token version) holds its own against it, SS easily holds its own, OD with cards like infest ruin GG. there are so many decks in 2013 that have answers for GG but no one bothers to even try because by turn 3 the score is 14-20 and their board is empty and i have 3 goblins out, and they just complain that they won't be able to come back and they quit and leave dissrespectful messages. I've beaten GG while using Sky and Scale! and Sky and scale is a pretty slow deck with very few removal spells. if Sky and Scale can best GG 80% of the other decks can too. Seriously though, stop bitc*ing and complaining about GG, if you are one of those people who send messages and roll your eyes when you see a goblin on the other side of the board do everyone a favor and just keep it to yourself, if you don't like Goblins don't play goblins, if you are a good enough player you'll know its just another deck like every other one and it has its weakness's. No one should feel ashamed of playing a dam* deck because of the incoming hate mail from untalanted magic players. GG players, play Goblins with your head held high and have fun, because thats what this game is about is having fun, and there is no fun in constantly getting frowned upon by others because they don't know how deal with aggro decks. My suggestion to all of those "GG Haters" out there, you can either get better at Magic and deal with decks you don't like playing against, or quit the game. no one will miss you and your immature messages to players just trying to have a good time.

I don't think I'd ever outright shame someone for using Goblins, but I avoid it in 1v1 'cause I do feel that it has an unfair advantage over most decks. The rare times I use it, I end up feeling kinda guilty, especially if I pull off a turn 4 win. And when an opponent plays Goblins, I moan to myself and put all my effort into crushing them as gloriously as possible.

I've noticed that most of the opponents I get that play Goblins are usually newer players, often with decks of 70+ cards. I get the occasional 60 card deck, but they're rarer than for any other deck I encounter.

Also, I agree with the sentiment that a well-tailored Goblin deck is fairly autopilot. I'm sure a bad player could still mess it up, but that'd take a lot of effort.

yeah i know, its just that i can say i have had upwards of 15-20 messages from random people i played 1v1 ranked with that criticize me after the game for playing goblins. it really is becoming very annoying. didn't mean to go too far into it, but the topic hit home with me. wish there were more reasonable and kind hearted players out there..

Have separate buttons for concessions and rage-quits!!

As I said before, playing goblins does not mean you are a bad player, but winning with goblins does not demonstrate that you are a good player. Goblins has extremely strong matchups over the majority of other decks, and wins from a formulaic, simplistic game which requires little to no skill and in many cases completely disregards the opponents play. Can you not understand why people find that frustrating to play against?

Sure GG has some bad matchups, but only in comparison to it's good matchups. A bad matchup for goblins is usually nowhere near as bad as a bad matchup for other decks, goblins always has a decent shot at winning. Saying "I've beaten GG with X, so it can't be that strong!" is a ridiculous failure of logic (and I actually think S&S is half decent against goblins). And the examples you give about players quitting when they are only 6 health down are just bad players, and have no relevance to this conversation.

You say this game is about fun; well being a passive observer on the other side of the table while a GG player rolls out the same mindless play yet again with nothing you can do about it is not fun. By playing goblins, you are taking other people's fun away from them, and that is why they get pissed off. And I question what is fun about being the goblins player in this situation? You say you are a skilled player with 10+ years of experience, but you play the simplest deck in the game? Do you get more fun out of seeing your internet points go up than you do from creative gameplay and testing your skill against others? If you're playing the game to be competitive and win at all costs, and people have every right to do that, then goblins is a solid choice. If you're playing the game to have fun or test and improve your skill, you are deluding yourself by playing goblins.
