Honestly I think your complaint at this point in the season really does come down to deck selection, and individual card selection. For one thing, the meta is still fairly undefined. While we're seeing the general archetypes developing decently, individual card selections are still definitely being hammered out, so it's hard to tell what to be ready for. This is magnified if you're playing control decks, obviously, and certainly heightened when you play decks that capitalize on temporary meta weaknesses, like UW Flash's heavy reliance on counterspells.
We're in a high-variance meta. Play a deck to survive the early game and have a more crushing lategame than anything else in the universe. Take the time to orient every time you get new info, but you should be able to trust your deck to hand you what you need. Obviously odds aren't necessarily on your team, but if the deck is there and you're there, you're 75% of the way.
Welcome to 2012. Blue has the most efficient creatures, black has the all-in monocolored aggro deck, the most controlling deck in the format is green-red, control decks lose to aggro in attrition wars, and counterspells aren't an answer to fatties.
Pack Rat is like Bitterblossom and Tarmogoyf had a black baby.

Whenever the goddess Fortuna gives me the finger, I laugh. I'm not kidding about this. Whenever fate goes so far out of its way to ruin my day, I find it hilarious. Life's a farce, and if you can't enjoy it because you lost your daily event entry fee, I pity you.

Yup I think ppl are just too used to play what wins, and since that's undefined for now, they get disoriented. Personally I prefer this to the meta becoming 2 or 3 decks and all the skill being applyed to tunning them to kill the others.

Eh, cheer up. You'll win eventually.
I don't have an egosig because I'd rather my ideas be judged on their merits than on mine. Catpoints: Spoiler:

Yeah this game gets extremely frustrating. I had one of those streaks last night trying to play rug keeping a 3 land hand and getting stuck with huntmasters, jaces and thragtusks until like turn 8 when my deck decided to give me my fourth land. This literally happened over a half dozen 2man Queues in a row, BOTH GAMES. Saddest part about it all is I am running 25 lands and 4 farseeks... not like I am trying to skimp out on lands... I kept track of die rolls one night and was losing about 80% of the time as well and it seemed losing EVERY roll against RDW and Zombies where it really mattered. Anyways, this is part of the game. The key is to calm down, remember that odds will eventually swing back your way and that is when skill begins to make a difference. I think we tend to remember bad luck more often then good luck. Last night definitely sticks out in my mind a lot more than say my incredible luck at Starcity Open SLC where I faced Delver 6 games in a row (which was a bad matchup) and almost every game my opponents either had to mull or I won the die roll and had the thalia opening hand. Luck won me those matchups and I was able to top 16 when I definitely shouldn't have been able to get that far against such bad matchups. So I guess it goes both ways. Eventually odds catch up and evens out and that is where player skills begins to make a differences.

So, after losing multiple rounds/games today simply because I could not draw a 4-of in my deck has made me hate standard again.
I wanna actually see the spells in my deck. Ugh.
