So, after losing multiple rounds/games today simply because I could not draw a 4-of in my deck has made me hate standard again.

I wanna actually see the spells in my deck. Ugh.

You should try not to make decks that rely so heavily on a specific card.  A certain portion of the time, you just won't see the card you need, so you shouldn't be dependent on it for victory.

I don't have an egosig because I'd rather my ideas be judged on their merits than on mine.

You can ask favors of me.  I may or may not agree to your favor, depending on how big the favor is and how many catpoints you have.

The games I lost were midrange mirrors, where I didn't draw any Thragtusks and they drew many.

Its not that I generally need Thrags to win, but when my opponent plays 2-3 or more and I see none, its hard to win.

Oh, and I lost a game to Havenghul Lich.

Havengul Lich ?

Was it one of those FRites decks running around? Just curious is all.

I guess, had Grisly Salvage, Mulch, Deathrite, Thragtusk, Havenghul, Rites, a little bit of removal and Vampire Nighthawk. Might have been some other stuff that I can't remember, but thats about it.

Deck lost hard when I had aggressive draws, but game 1 I never drew any Thragtusks to finish him off and game 3 he had Lich and took the game over.

I figured. I just wanted to see if that was the case. When the version of FRites started showing up I looked through the cards to see what it had that was actually worth using over for.

I saw Havengul Lich and thought to myself, hey, this might be a decent 1 of. Essentially Unburial Rites number 5 in the deck. Could prove useful since more and more often people are running Slaughter Games and Unburial Rites is usually one of the go-to targets against Reanimator. Seems like he could be kind of cool with Deathrite Shaman and Griselbrand too.

Still think the version of FRites is better though.

Deck did better than I thought, but I think part of that is because he had T1 Deathrite shaman every game and I ran no removal.

The games he won he was at 40+ life (hit 60 at one point) mostly because of Deathrites.

At that juncture you should be running Chalice of Life - the sad part is that I'm not even kidding. It's a gross alternative win con in this sluggish format.
