I was 9. I think either Mercadian Masques or Invasion block was the new, cool thing. A 13-year-old boy decided to teach me the game after he told me about it while my mother was taking the two of us to the premiere night of the first Harry Potter movie. My grasp on the English language was, at the time, not too great, but I was able to pick up the game mechanics and the important words and phrases. Plenty of card names like Reveille Squad where I had to ask either the older boy or my parents about the meaning. I was disappointed to learn that Kavu was a made-up word, as I thought Kavus were really cool at the time. My first theme deck was Pandemonium from Apocalypse. This was a terrible, terrible beginner's deck. Why? Well, first of all, I had to hide the two copies of Exotic Curse from my conservative parents. And secondly, it was a five-colour deck. Seriously. This was a terrible thing to base a theme deck around. It took me years and years to stop building decks by just smashing all my coolest cards together into one big mess . It was fun, though.

I was 18 (Revised was out, and Fallen Empires was new and shiny). My friends all came back from the first semester of college and told us about this great new game we had to try. My first game a friend handed me a deck and stood behind me telling me what to do.

Around 1997. Give or take a year. Made some friends and they introduced it to me. Would always borrow a deck. I ended up getting the deck as a present later on.
Also, I really wish I did not think $10 is too much to pay for any card, especially a dual land, and $40 is too much to pay for a mox.

... Unfortunately we're still a couple years short for this joke to completely work, but...
It was twenty years ago today when Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play.

I missed playing Card Games. I don't really enoy yugioh and every other card game tends to die quickly, so I went with the one that has been around long enough to ensure it won't vanish tomorrow.

I feel you man, my mom almost sequestrated all my cards when she saw Warrior's Honor .

Okay, here is the clincher. I've been waiting to say this.
The "cam girl" this was inspired by was just a girl from a social networking website, Stickam. Her name was TinyTerror and she was just a regular girl who was on her webcam, totally unrelated to any type of adult content.
I hope you all feel really smart now.
This is like someone coming into class with a bloody nose and everyone's like "Jeez what happened to you" and they're like "I ran into a wall" and everyone laughs at them for being an idiot but then at the end of the class they say "HAHA JUST KIDDING I PUNCHED MYSELF IN THE FACE!!!!!! TALK ABOUT OWNED HAHAHAHAHA"
I really enjoy imagining this from Kevin's perspective. Because in Kevin's world, Rosewater actually reads everything he types. Mark is sitting there right now, reading this, and thinking "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled. . ." Or some such. He chuckles low, then clicks on "The Best Of KEVINSET" and says "Yes, this'll do just fine. A busty lady with banding who deals direct damage to Zones!? Why this will be the star of my next set, and no one will ever believe you Kevin." Then he closes his Macbook, so his servant may move it out of the way, while another servant puts a Fetal Richard Garfield Clone lathered in Steak Sauce in front of him. Then Mark Feasts.
Sorin walked into the chamber where his newly wed bride, Vampy, awaited. A beam of moonlight illuminated his brilliant silver hair as he strode with confidence towards the bed. His shirtless body showcased his powerful abdominal muscles and he was wearing jeans with holes in the knees.
I wish more girls play magic cards...
Have you considered assassinating Kevin?

I first got interested when I was 12, started when I was 13 one year later when someone got me a 5th edition starter.
Also, I fully agree with the mafia MVP... JaC is too damn hard to catch as scum. Even when I started being sure he was scum, I was not sure and had to invent some plans to fish for reactions... which he would have probably passed and I would have had nothing to use against him...
Oh yes, JaC's a genius at this.

At 11, it was the Ice Age and I played a litte with my cousin's and friends' cards. At 13, Tempest's storyline turned me into a fan and I started to get my own cards.
