Common first few turns I've seen VS Bant in games 2/3:
Turn 1: Arbor Elf Turn 2: Centaur Healer Turn 3: Attack for 3, Restoration Angel Turn 4: Thragtusk, swing for 6. Turn 5: Swing for 12
Now, I've had some killer openers VS them as well: Turn 1: Deathrite Shaman Turn 2: Bump in the Night, Nom-nom with Shaman (5 damage) Turn 3: Guttersnipe Turn 4: Spear, Pillar, nom-nom with Shaman (11 damage) Turn 5: I just need 1 spell to play, Guttersnipe + Shaman can get the 4 damage I need. It's all about dealing with lifegain after that.
The problem is, who ever get's to turn 5 first, usually wins. I don't have the resources to do creature control, every burn spell I fire at a creature is another sudo 2 or 3 life I give them. I look to bring them into lethal on turn 5 because otherwise if they curve out on me, I can't race them. If the game lasted long enough for me to play Festival, they'll have already clinched the game, and they just need to hit me once. I've tried burning off Thragtusks, manadorks and Healers, but it just seems to put me more behind. I have to wait until they Swing with Thragtusk in order to also prevent his token from swinging at me, but by then they've been able to untap meaning a possible Restoration Angel to save it.
RDW =/= Burn
I don't think Keyrune is for this deck, but I'll test with it. Fire is a little hard on my manabase since I'm trying to get Shaman to run every turn.
The Curses seem to slow in my testing, so it's back to the drawing board.

I find myself in an interesting position. My wife has fallen in love with my B/r Zombie-Sligh build and I'd like to pilot this list some time, if only to see it in action for real. Problem is, I only have the 4 Crypt/Summit.
My suggestion is you get her to pony up! Magic is pricey man, and you have your own habit to tend to! And if she doesn't play in events then just proxy them. All good.

We share our entire collection, normally I have free rain over any of the Red cards since she doesn't like Red. However, because Black has all the good 1-drops, I had to get into her Zombie deck for the Gravecrawlers/Messengers. Which she was more than happy to let me. If I suddenly cut off the manabase for this deck, you can be sure those Zombies will vanish, leaving me with a manabase for B/r Sligh, but no Zombies.
We go to events together so Proxying isn't an option. I just have to find her another deck that she likes just as much, or better than my Zombie Sligh.
Luckily, for testing, I can get by with Proxies. I'm not yet at the point where I'd risk an entry fee on this deck yet.

I'm getting desperate to solve the whole Bant problem. I'm conisdering a very unusal SB Plan B. Unburial Rites -> Gisela, Blade of Goldnight With an entire deck full of burn (read removal) I should be able to stall long enough for a Faithless Looting to help me pitch a Gisela, and then I can either find a way to outright cast Rites, or with a light white Splash, flash it back. I really need Gatecrash to make it hum. Why Gisela VS any other Reanimate target? She's a 1 sided Furnace of Rath and halves what ever damage I take. I untap with her in play and it's GG. Plan B + sideboard cards: 4 Rites 4 Looting 3 Gisela 4 Rakdos Charm Charm is basically the only SB card I've found I'd want to have. Helps managed creatures and artifacts. I've tested Keyrune, and I feel it slows the deck down too much. It's good VS Thragtusk as a blocker, but I was rarely happy to draw it. Plan A Config

You could also replace four mountains with four Clifftop Retreat it won't get you white as reliably until gatecrash, but there could be games where you have one out when you have an unburial rites, gisela, and faithless looting.

No, the manabase is too tricky to manage right now. I've actually am considering some Evolving Wilds and no Plains until Gatecrash. I can crack a Wild and then later nom it with Shaman to get me White. Ghost Quarter may also be an option, hate on a non-basic and nom for White to flashback Rites. Why i'm waiting for Gatecrash: I can't risk having too many EtBT lands, I'll wait for Godless Shrine and Sacred Foundry for my access to white.

Just dropping this here if someone cares, I went 3-1 with it in a FNM (slightly modified basing on results). Lost 1-2 to junk reanimator. Beat UW flash (soundly), UW delverless delver-thing, GW aggro/midrange something with thragtusks. Kinda hard to tell when games end quickly. 4 vexing devil 4 rakdos cackler 4 ash zealot 4 lightning mauler 4 gore-house chainwalker 3 hellhole flailer 4 pillar of flame 4 searing spear 4 thunderous wrath 1 brimstone volley 3 dreadbore 9 mountain 4 dragonskull summit 4 blood crypt 2 swamp 2 rakdos guildgate Couple things I noticed: vexing devil is better than I thought, and imo second best 1-drop after cackler. Considerably better than noble anyway. Lightning mauler is also better than I thought, particularly with the cheap unleash guys. Also notice the absence of 4-drops. I couldn't acquire hellriders so I played without them, and it turned out to work pretty well. Brimstone volleys and hellhole flailers occupy the same slot basically, have to keep mana open past turn 4. This opinion is provided 'as is'. Take it or leave it.

I posted in the wrong thread then, I apologize. I should have looked more carefully.

Firstly, Anubuss, I was tongue in cheek the whole time lol, no disrespect to your wife, I have my own Beau who is starting to fiend up herself, so I feel you =p As for the build, honestly I think this deck is about as good as you can make it right now. I also think this thing is very well positioned to become considerably more powerful once Boros happens. A couple of the burn cards from RTR point to them basically being Boros cards, so once that drops hopefully you'll get some new toys to play with. But honestly I think you've reached the ceiling on what a burn can do right now, everything else is just re-arranging or using sub-optimal permanent stuff like the Curses and Havoc Festival. Although I must say, even in burn, I think Ash Zealot has a place. The only gap I can see though would be instead of Cackler, so yeah... Would that be a worthy shift in your experience of playing the deck?
