I was re-reading the Mindstorms thread today and came across this post from me (in reference to Mindwrack Liege ): I mostly agree with the assessment that he is in the build to power up the dragonauts and spellbounds, but you must realize that his ability can be activated at instant speed. I have a dragonaut build and was playing against OD, when he swung with a Phyrexian Obliterator and a Grave Titan... sounds grim but I flashed in a Conquering Manticore, took control of the Obliterator and blocked the Titan to make him sac 6 permanents and kill the Oblit in the process. Then I finished off the Titan with Electrolyze, did 1 dmg to his face and drew a card. For 7 mana, I got a 5/5 flier, killed his two beasts, did 1 dmg, drew a card and made him sac 6 perms. Now that's value!!!
Ah, I remember this. Fun times! What are your most memorable combat tricks?

I remember one I did just after the game first came out Obedient Dead (Me) VS Peacekeepers (Opp) My opponent has a Elite Vanguard , Dawn Elemental and a Fiend Hunter (which is exiling my Nekrataal ) on the board. I have nothing on the board, but I have a Murder in hand On his turn he swings with all three - Quickly, I Murder his Fiend Hunter to get my Nekrataal back. Nekrataal's ability kills the Dawn Elemental and I block the Vanguard which gets killed by Nekrataal's first strike. Next turn I swing for the win 3-for-1 - I was well pleased with myself!

Playing in 2HG Ive been able to do this a couple times. Playing against CW and OD I was using CW and my partner had AS.
My OD opponent had 1 creature out, a Nekretaal. My partner had 1 creature out, a Kor Spiritdancer. MY CW opponent tried to cast Rite of Replication to copy his partners Nek to kill my partners Kor.
I instead cast Twincast, copy his Rite, make my own Nekretaal, kill the original, and then his Rite has nothing to copy. 2 mana to cancel his spell, kill thier deathtouch creature and get one of my own, not too shabby.

How could you kill a black creature with Nekrataal ?
WotC doesn't care about flavor. Their forum is the only place where an ORC can kill a troll...

That would totally be a "cool story bro", except for the fact that, oh you know, a Nekrataal cant really kill another Nekrataal. Thank you come again.

Sorry I wasn't specific there. I didnt mean to imply I killed the Nekretaal with my copy, I killed the creature the other guy was trying to copy. The end result was that I was left with a Nekretaal and the CW opponent got nothing. The OD opponent actually attacked with his Nekretaal and I blocked with mine killing them both in this specific example.
It has happened a couple times, sometimes I Twincast the other guys Rite and then use it to make a copy of my own partners Nekretaal when he uses OD. Same thing applies, use it to kill the creature your opponent is trying to copy.

My opponent tried to bounce my acidic slime today, and instead of doing anything about it, I let him, and then recast it next turn, and then aether mutationed it and cast it again. Does that count? lol

Wow. Ok.
Since I wanted to make sure this was put to bed I put some thought into it and remember the situation exactly.
Playing CW and OD Im using CW. Doesnt matter what my partner had. CW has an Archeomancer. OD has a Nekretaal. I have nothing. Opponent CW plays a Rite trying to copy his Archeo, I assume to bring back his Time Warp. I cast Twincast and copy his Rite. I use it to copy Nekretaal, then use him to kill the Archeomancer. By the time the original Rite resolves there is nothing for it to copy. I was left with a Nekretaal. Opponent OD attacked with his Nekretaal and I blocked with mine. For 2 land I took out two creatures, three if you count the about to be created Archeo copy and stopped him getting his Time Warp.

Problem is, you didn't even imply he tried to copy the nekrataal...you said it outright. Then claimed a magical kill with one of your own. Now the trust is gone and we can't believe any version of the story. I could tell you about the time I kicked Rite of Replication on my opponents Goblin Piledriver , then swung for the win next turn...but that would be a lie too.
