I meant I don't want you to be able to use the ability to put a double-faced card onto the battlefield. Sorry, I guess that question was pretty badly worded.

Aaargh.

Thoughts: Show

Coalescent Heart |
Land
When Coalescent Heart enters the battlefield, add one mana of any color to your mana pool.
Mana doesn't empty from your mana pool as steps and phases end.
Visible in the presence of power. Still without it.

Innovation:
I think my Idol finals aura from a couple years back fits this. Might look. (That's right, re-using designs for INNOVATION).

History (assuming this is one card, but it was fun so they're all here - in the event I submit to History, the first is my entry):

Bloodstained Copse |
Land
: Add to your mana pool.
: Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only once each turn.
The leaves of the oldest trees still hold traces of an ancient tragedy.

Removed land type.
others Show
Ashen Field |
Land - Plains
(: Add to your mana pool.)
: Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only once each turn.
The wheat still holds life, but it is not fit for another oven.

Weedchoked Stream |
Land - Island
(: Add to your mana pool.)
: Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only once each turn.
The plants jealously hold back the flow, as if to hoard it against a rocky future.

Sanctuary Mire |
Land - Swamp
(: Add to your mana pool.)
: Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only once each turn.
The refugees hold mass in their tiny hut, but the darkness is kept at bay for one more night.

Floodwracked Peak |
Land - Mountain
(: Add to your mana pool.)
: Add to your mana pool. Activate this ability only once each turn.
The mountain fights to hold the deluge, but the water knows that gravity's hold is far too strong.

: add one mana of the named colour to your mana pool.
, target opponent gains control of Foreign Embassy: draw a card.
It's halls are as decorated as its history.

Perfect originality is overrated and often ugly. The best and most beautiful cards I've ever seen were clearly inspired by something else.

Cards are not entirely unlike living organisms in this regard. All the good ones are a result of long evolution; the 'original' ones are either monocellular or mutant aberrations.

The weird part is reaching over the table, grabbing a card from their hand, and just staring slowly back at them, awkwardly, as you slide their voice of resurgence slowly into your pants.

Innovation:

Ritual Pit
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant land.
Enchanted land loses all abilities and gains ", sacrifice a creature:  add to your mana pool".

By the way, I'm not on the scoreboard.  And do I start with any slices of the pie?  Because some people already have 3 of them, and I don't think I can win the contests twice as often as they do.
I don't have an egosig because I'd rather my ideas be judged on their merits than on mine.

Catpoints:
Spoiler: Show

What are catpoints?
A way of measuring how much I love you.
How do I get catpoints?
1:  participate in my forum games/contests.
2:  make awesome posts.
3:  destroy Carthage.
What can I do with catpoints?
You can ask favors of me.  I may or may not agree to your favor, depending on how big the favor is and how many catpoints you have.
Who has how many catpoints?

711.6. A double-faced permanent always has the status "face up" (see rule 110.6). Double-faced permanents can't be turned face down. If a spell or ability tries to turn a double-faced permanent face down, nothing happens.

basically, if you used it on gatstaff shepherd , it'd do as much as it could of the instructions, which is but it into play, then fail to put it face-down.

@cato: Rush just hasn't updated the scoreboard yet. and no, no pie to start, but don't worry, the nature of the contest actually makes it fairly easy to catch up if you're good. remember, once someone wins all the pie slices, they still need to come first in the entire round in order to win, which gives you time, and if you pick your categories right you can block them for a bit since their category choices are much more limited than yours. it's not a great position to come in at but it's definitely workable.

120.6. Some effects replace card draws.

When the holidays are over (for me, that's around Jan. 7th), I'll be back to my loveable, always on time self. Also, I'm waiting for Stein so I can do it all at once.

Wait, that wasn't me to begin with, was it?

With silasw doing flavor, I'm going with something else.

Elegance: make a land with no mana abilities. it should still feel land-y.

Ruin of the Elders
Legendary Land
As long as ~ is tapped, spells you cast cost less to cast.
It's hard enough finding it, much less tapping into its power.

This one is more for johnnies, but I think spikes will be drawn to its power. Essentially giving you for each spell you cast is quite land-y. This mechanic can really only be safely done on lands, as there are too many ways to tap creatures and artifacts.

Oh, and the art will totally tie in with something having to do with the other elder dragons ( Chromium most likely)

WIP Show

Formatcraft: Make a land that would impact the eternal formats (Vintage, Legacy) but could be printed in a modern set. Show

Think I'll enter a card I created for KOR: Library of the Apocalypse. I feel the card has a very potent ability hidden behind a serious drawback, making it suitably mythic. This would be a key enabler for legacy and vintage dredge, while being suitably powered down in a format like standard where it's harder to take advantage of the ability. While personally I don't think dredge decks need help, recent tournament reports shows dredge is well under control so throwing them a bone isn't out of the question.

Flavor: Imagine a set that takes place on a setting like our moon. make a land card for it. Show

Powerstone Faultline -
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant land
Whenever enchanted land becomes tapped, it's controller sacrifices it. If that player does, he or she may have it deal 3 damage to target creature.
For once, the local goblins knew better than Merovik and his delver mobs.

My latest set is in public beta! KOR - Kingdoms of Rabiah - Check it out!

Like Uncle Istvan ? Like Rabiah? Like Homelands? Then check out theScion's Parade of Planeswalkers

Got Flavor? Throw it at me in my Gauntlet: theScion vs YMTC thread. Can the combined powers of YMTC defeat our favorite rainbow-faced card crafter?

I'm not sure you're right there.

The instructions aren't a seperate "put it onto the battlefield" and "put it facedown".
It's "put it onto the battlefield face down", which is a single (impossible) action.

One glimpse into the depths lasts a second.  The memories last a lifetime.
