The only ways to remove a Geist for less than 4 mana are Rolling Temblor , Liliana of the Veil , and Tribute to Hunger . Miracled Bonfire and Terminus work, but you can't really plan for them.
There's also "playing a 2 power dude"
The problem with clone is that instead of spending 2 mana to kill their 3 cmc geist, you're spending 4 mana to kill their 3cmc geist. And half the time it's already gotten a hit in.
That's not the problem. If that was the only use of Clone it would be true but you pay extra to do other things with it.
The power level of those things varies by your deck and your opponent's deck.
"playing a 2 power dude" hardly counts as removal against Geist of Saint Traft , considering the suite of removal spells available in Standard. Secondly, if your opponent has boarded Geist in in the first place, then you are probably in a control mirror, in which situation "2 power dudes" are not in abundance - and you probably don't want to waste a snappy as a chump blocker, do you?
Furthermore, your point that Clones power level varies by your opponents deck is (mostly) invalid, as Evil Twin etc. are typically going to be sideboarded in if you are dealing with a deck that has a host of juicy targets. Not only that, if Geist is a threat in the first place (you don't have a sweeper or chump blocker available), then Cloning it to death for 4 mana is far from a bad play.

If you're playing against geist, that probably means you're playing against a u/r/w tempo deck, not a control mirror.
And I would gladly pitch a snapcaster for nothing to deal with a geist of saint traft.
1000th post November 26, 2010. Where Islands gets his decks: Spoiler:

It was revealed to me in a dream. All the cards were in my dream except for three slots which I plugged in as Vault Skirge.
FULL DISCLOSURE: The dream was post AVR so there was a copy of Slayer's Stronghold. I decided to keep it pre AVR in my post here.
EDIT: I just remembered. The Skirges might have been 2x Whipflare and 1x something else, probably War and Peace.
EDIT2: Currently 4-0 in my first four games with this. My opponents have been very angry. I fought off a Wurmcoil from Grixis for six turns before I found my second Dispatch. Jeez, I can do a lot of damage.
EDIT3: Streak broken. Lost to an unexpected Overrun. Cracking a Shrine for 10 wasn't enough.
How Kedi tests his decks: Spoiler:

also, I've been playtesting this deck in my sleep today that kinda freaked me out

The very logic that GoST is going to hurt you before you can answer it is logic enough to warrant boarding in Clone so you can remove even slower answers like Terminus. Rather take 6 than 18-24. This increases the likelihood you'll have a clone or verdict to beat it. Or have access to all 3 post sideboard. Plus, an Angel of Serenity can get your Clone back... AoS doesn't reclaim your Verdicts or Terminus (which also happen to answer your own angel here).
I wonder if some people even play the game sometimes or if their comments are based purely on conjecture from reading words on cardboard and the desire to argue on the internet.
Boasts?

I wonder if some people even play the game sometimes, or if they are just looking for a place to mock people and pick fights.

and they usually have like 7 counters

Sigarda is a good reason as well. I'm seeing her played more and more. I know you can Wrath, but sometimes you are playing a tempo deck and you don't want to kill your own dudes.
