O double snap.

First, the burn.

Second, the part where he thought you were someone else.

What B_F said. What spell you want depends greatly on your deck, and even then it depends on which way the meta has shifted this week.

Getting the majority of these forums to realize this ^ is why I made this thread.

You say this, after making your OP "seering speer iz mah waifu" and then spending the rest of the thread telling everyone it's the best.

And abrupt decay is seeing less play than spear for a reason:  becaue people are playing b/r aggro.  It's like if everyone's playing cawblade, that doesn't mean that preordain is a better 1 drop than goblin guide, it just means that the deck which is capable of playing the former is better than the deck capable of playing the latter.

the correct answer is that there isn't one.  there are diverse threats and diverse answers.  When card X works in situation A, situation B makes card X bad, but calls for Card Y, but card Y isn't good in situation A.

sometimes you need pillar of flame, sometimes you need supreme verdict, sometimes you need ultimate price, sometimes you need bonfire.

I miss Go for the Throat , it was such an easy answer to creatures most of the time.

I don't miss go for the throat.

I think the current approach to removal is better personally, there is quite a lot of variety out there for dealing with things when you look at it, but it's varied and requires concessions. And if you don't want to deal with those concessions that's fine too, but the catch-all has to be paid for, or is awkward . Surely the fact that these discussions can even happen is a good thing really?

If I wanted stupid stuff, I'd play vintage.

instant speed black card for two that hits a large portion of the creatures in a format is pretty standard. Wish we had more of it, really.

Delver was too interactive so they made cards that couldn't be profitable to interact with which is a terrible idea.

Its not Delver, its Snapcaster Mage. They've made such a huge deal about how Snapcaster Mage and Lingering Souls are too good and whatnot, and how they let the two cards decide how they made sets from that point forward.

For example, they tacked on the damage ability of Thundermaw Hellkite to fight Lingering Souls.
And Rest in Peace was supposed to help fight against Lingering Souls and Snapcaster more than Reanimator.
And Dryad Militant is obvious.
