I like the build by DeepBlueNemesis, really straightforward, but with all the choices of cards I would make (except for not including Blustersquall ;p) if I wouldn't have already posted my Rakdos splash blue deck. As a returning Magic player, I consider myself learning fast in the last couple of months, soaking up all the info I can get on forums, podcasts etc and starting to have a good feel for the set. But still, with this pool, for myself it's hard to make a choice between the red/black/blue "oh maybe I have to put in one or two cards I normally wouldn't play, but the cards I really wanted to play are awesome" -deck, or the straight white/blue "yeah I can see this work although it'll be harder when they get those 4-toughness reach guys out" -deck. Avoiding the discussion that one build could be better than the other; let's say you think they're both equally good, but in a totally different way. What are the main things that make you decide which one you're going to play within the strict time limit you have to write down and submit your deck for the six rounds you're going to play?

This Deck was built in 0:41:33 Total Deck Size: 40 17 Lands --------------- 7 Island 6 Mountain 2 Swamp 2 Izzet Guildgate 17 Creatures --------------- 1 Batterhorn 1 Bloodfray Giant 1 Crosstown Courier 2 Frostburn Weird 1 Hover Barrier 1 Izzet Staticaster 1 Lobber Crew 1 Runewing 1 Sphinx of the Chimes 2 Splatter Thug 1 Stealer of Secrets 1 Tenement Crasher 1 Tower Drake 1 Vassal Soul 1 Voidwielder
6 Other Spells --------------- 1 Blustersquall 1 Chemister's Trick 1 Downsize 1 Inaction Injunction 1 Inspiration 1 Launch Party
Plan for this deck: If the opponent has a slow start, then start beating down with Frostburn Weird and Splatter Thug . Otherwise, use ground creatures to block, without trading if possible, until you draw a card like Chemister's Trick or Blustersquall to finish things off. The deck also has a number of other spells that provide inevitablility, such as Lobber Crew , Sphinx of the Chimes and, to some extent, Bloodfray Giant .
Overall, I hated to give up bombs such as Desecration Demon and Rakdos, Lord of Riots , but black just wasn't deep enough and those two cards are not easy to splash. I welcome any feedback on this list and/or my logic.
