It's a tough question, since there's no positive interaction with it when it hits the board. I'd like to see a sort of Chain Lightning spell; something like:

Instant, 2RR: Deals 3 damage to target creature. If a creature dies this way, you may have Chain Lightning deal 3 damage to target creature or player.

That's a pretty lame idea, though - basically a roided-up Searing Spear . I'll bet you guys have some better ideas.

Lol, so basically the opponent gets 2 life and a 3/3 Beast token in exchange for your card? Thragtusk was a mistake, full stop.

The most direct and narrow way would be some sort of potent Beast-hate.

Wilder Beastmaster
, : Gain control of target Beast with toughness less than ~'s.
, Sacrifice a Beast: Gain life equal to sacrificed creatures toughness.

I'm sure flavor/name/sac ability could be manipulated to get it to fit into  Gruul nicely.

I'd bet my set of Black Rav2 duals (that's 4 Blood Crypt and 4 Overgrown Tomb , for those keeping score at home) that WotC doesn't have a ****ing thing in Gatecrash that can positively interact with Thragtusk in any way, ever. The ****ing thing was designed that way.

Edit: When I first saw the thing spoiled, I thought "Crap, that seems kind of bad for me. Thank goodness so few people around here (my highly-competitive FNM meta) are playing it. I hh oope it doesn't catch on."

The first person who mentions dimir mill as a good way to interact with thragtusk should be perma-banned, IP banned, have their entire family banned as well, and be banished to the Adarkar wastes to freeze or be eaten by yetis or something.

EDIT3: Streak broken.  Lost to an unexpected Overrun.    Cracking a Shrine for 10 wasn't enough.

What you're suggesting is poor design, in a space already filled with poor design.

They made a problem, then they will make a card that solves the problem, becoming the problem itself...

Its a destructive and vicious cycle.

How do you guys feel about first/double strike and undying? Something like Hound of Griselbrand ? Or, some sort of enchantment that deal damage to target creature when a creature leaves play?

The problem with your solutions is they don't account for the rules regarding the stack. You can't kill the beast token with an effect that triggers before the beast is in play. They don't answer Thragtusk any more than Searing Spear does, in their current form.

Meh.  I think tusk makes more archeypes than he crowds out.
