Where Islands gets his decks:
Spoiler: Show

It was revealed to me in a dream.  All the cards were in my dream except for three slots which I plugged in as Vault Skirge.

FULL DISCLOSURE:  The dream was post AVR so there was a copy of Slayer's Stronghold.  I decided to keep it pre AVR in my post here.

EDIT: I just remembered.  The Skirges might have been 2x Whipflare and 1x something else, probably War and Peace.

EDIT2:  Currently 4-0 in my first four games with this.  My opponents have been very angry.  I fought off a Wurmcoil from Grixis for six turns before I found my second Dispatch.  Jeez, I can do a lot of damage.

EDIT3: Streak broken.  Lost to an unexpected Overrun.    Cracking a Shrine for 10 wasn't enough.

How Kedi tests his decks:

also, I've been playtesting this deck in my sleep today
that kinda freaked me out

Sleeping on Halloween:

Halloween is a conspiracy by crossdressers and furries.

You could try playing the Ethereal Armor deck.  It's cheap to build, newbie friendly, and actually fast enough to win before Thragtusk drops, if you get a god hand.  It's pretty inconsistent, though.
Builds and Guides
The Cosmonaut a build that teleports foes into space.
November Errata Item Guide a guide to equipping Avengers and Strikers after the November errata.
100% Crit Rate Ardent Champion an Avenger combo that autocrits and/or inflicts infinite damage at level 11.

BR Zombies was the best non-Thragtusk deck at States (possibly inflated by the number of people playing it).

UWR midrange (i.e. Geist-and-Pike) decks were also reasonably well placing, and several pundits have talked it up, but WW splashing blue (or green, without Tusk) did better.

It's really not even about giving niche cards to black.

It should be about giving black cards to Niche.

uW humans is a fun and rather consistant deck. I've been toying around with it and I like it. It's a 60$ or so build - the fountains. Spectral flight is nasty good.

It's that damn Thragtusk! He's soo hot right now.

Seriously, I think you need to suck it up and buy/win/trade for some. He's going to be good for the next year.

THe OP *has* a playset. They just want to have something to give to their friend for FNM. There's plenty of things that one can do that doesn't involve spending a c-bill.

I'm not saying that you can't play anything without Thragtusk, but it helps in a player's library if they want to be competitive. You may win here and there over some of the Thragtusks decks, but eventually when you get to the top tables playing them, you'll be a bit outgunned by the combination of skill and card quality coming together.

I have a playset. You don't seem to be capable of reading the original post.

Than apply my remarks to whomever is considering running decks without them.
