Hello! I am torn between these two generals, although they are the same color. If i did rafiq i would run every possible exalted cards, with the leftovers being mana ramp and removal. With jenara, im not sure how use her effectively. i guess just TONS of mana ramp and protection and removal. Im leaning toward jenara, but has anyone ever ran either of these two? i would like to know what your experience was pertaining to both success and fun thanks Jenara, asura of war rafiq of the many

I played Rafiq. I tried my hand at building a Jenara deck. Didn't work out how i wanted it to. Most people play both of these commanders as Voltron style decks. Being able to go to the dome for 21. I think overall Rafiq is more powerful and can be taken in alot of different directions. My original take on Rafiq played cards like Defense of the Heart , Tooth and Nail , Forbidden Orchard , and Simic Sky Swallower . The idea was to get into play a giant double-striking guy and end the game as quickly as possible. I've seen a few other takes on it that use the same ways to get creatures into play but then use Infect creatures to do the rest of the work. Blightsteel Colossus and Triumph of the Hordes . With Jenara the best list I've seen included alot of ETB effects. But if you want to build around her then you'll want to go equipment or aura based.

I run Rafiq with damage from my other creatures, not commander damage fom him. Keeps him safe from effects that take out attacking creatures. With enough Exalted permanents out there, plus the Double Strike from Rafiq, any little 2/2 is a serious threat.
I haven't ran Jenara, but I'd definitely do Voltron with her and rely on commander damage. Unlike Rafiq, Jenara just can't help your other creatures.

I'm actually assembling a Jenara deck at the moment. Really though, I just wanted a Bant general so I can have Bruna, Light of Alabaster and Krond the Dawn-Clad in the same deck with a bunch of good auras. I could have done that with Rafiq, but he's so ubiquitous and overplayed.

An amazing synergistic "combo" to use is sublime archangel with infinite reflections on it. as for the commander, jenara is a better midrange commander, where as rafiq is better at the quick kill(s). Both are great, but I prefer rafiq for his pure power.

I found that Jenara, asura of war was okay the only problem with her is that no matter how many protections and stuff I had on her. Other players always found a way to get rid of her and then I was stuck with having to build her up again. This is way I love using Rafiq of the many it's not about just buliding one creature up it's about having cards to help out any of your creatures.

Huh? How is Rafiq somehow less vulnerable than Jenara? I'm pretty sure you can use the same auras and equipment on both creatures. I'm honestly not sure what you're getting at here.

Jenara can use Aluren . If Rafiq dies, you'll have to pay its mana cost + 2. Jenara would only cost an additional 2 each time. Flash her in during the opponent's turn. Spend any mana to pump her. Your turn, she's ready to attack.

I never thought of the Alluren Jenara interaction, seems fun and gimmicky, just how I like my EDH.
That being said, I have seen a 1v1 infect Rafiq edh deck that nearly always pulled out turn 3-4 victories while running 20-30 interruption spells.
So pretty much, chose an approach or goal that you want your EDH deck to accomplish and the general should be pretty easy to decide at that point in time.
