Normally I would disagree with something like this, but it's pretty clear that hosters of 2HG games almost always team up with a friend of theirs for easy wins vs 2 randoms who don't know each other. No need to handicap yourself against such people by taking a random player: they're still at an advantage after all (2 minds can cover up each other's weaknesses, after all, and they always communicate with each other so they work as one entity)

The 2HG format is also more than just a team-play version of the single-player, it's a completely different format. The deck combinations and interactions are something that many people enjoy, and just aren't possible with the limited pool of cards available in a single deck in DotP. I'd play 1v1 in 2HG with each person using 2 controllers before I played 1v1.

Why don't the washington redskins play 11 RG3s? Its a team game brah.
I play 2hg occasionally with both controls and it is pretty clear the competitive advantage I get when both decks are set up how I like them. When someone kicks me I just assume thats why and move on.
If you control the builds of both decks I believe splitscreening helps your win percentage. You control 100% of the cards where the opponents each control 50% and maybe they don't synergize as well. In my view most people that splitscreen on 2HG are leaderboard chasers that can't hack it in 1 vs 1. Feels good to win so why try and face someone that has 100% control when you do!!
The teamup nature of 2hg is what makes it fun for me. Other reasons for booting splitscreens are alot of times they just take longer..I can't remember how many times I have to tell them to hit triangle!! no the other controls triangle!! Then there is the bad memorys from last years game where the splitscreeners are more likely to double deck!! and even this year it seemed the splitscreeners always had a turn1 flying lifelink whatever...
if people online suck so much why do you even need the competitive advantage? sure your teamate might suck but both the other people must suck too amirite?

I use two controllers too. I do this for many reasons but mainly because I have no friends that play this game. It allows me to play a format I like most. Being able to use fluid thought processes and have more control is a bonus.

Split screeners take really long turns, really, really long turns. Also thay are usually mill deck combos that are annoying to play against. I never play against them. They typically have an ego driven complex of some sort, and are more likely to rage quit, or exploit bugs/ stall the game.

I've thought about playing 2HG with two controllers but never really bothered. I really like the added tactics and interaction of 2HG than i do 1vs1. I used to play 2hg as a lone wolf back in the 2012 days, but teams seem to be a lot more frequent in 2013 (which isn't a bad thing) as none of my friends are willing to get into magic it leaves me to play with randomers (who are usually pretty poor). 2 bad players working in a team are just as good as two very skilled players working alone.
I should really add a few people from these forums to play 2hg with, but i have a thing about talking to randomers i've never met.
If anybody would like to play 2HG without being able to voice chat, then send me a message
