that was never true Serra Angel  was in Alpha after all I think there was a time where untapping a creature removed it from combat, but my historic rules knowledge is lacking

It never applied to attacking creatures, of course, since they get tapped as they attack. Well, most of them anyway!
It used to apply to blockers.
However it actually worked is irrelevant, and has been so for a long time.
But once in a while some old timer scavenges this up!
