id like to throw this up for thought.
Essence Harvest
its flings without having to actually "fling". three mana for a potential post-combat win doesnt seem terrible. hell. even three mana for the mid-late game lifegain doesnt sound bad either. a bit better than the Disciple of Bolas and cheaper, sure u dont get the card draw, but lets face it, we would rather those cards being dredged anyways.
the great thing about Disciple is that he's a creature. you use him to sac a creature that isn't nescessary at a later point in the game, get life back that you most likely lost in the early stages of the game, and draw more creature cards that you can then discard to the troll. He does a LOT for this deck at four mana.
I would have killed, literally ended someones life, to NOT have Arrogant Bloodlord riding a giant ant... Good times: Spoiler:

but where DID the other fork come from? Spoiler:

Lord_Zed: I was at my friends house when this happened. He's married and his wife was an excellent baker. She had baked a homemade apple pie the night before.
I was hungry, and my friend convinced me to try those low carb monster drinks. Before this day, I had never triend energy drinks before.
Boy was I in for a treat.
When I tried that first monster, I really enjoyed the flavor, but the taste that it left in my mouth wasn't so good. What was my solution? Drink another!
before I could finish drinking that 2nd monster, I felt it already kicking in(these drinks were not very far apart, we're talking minutes here) my friend decided that it was a good idea to whip out that fresh pie his wife made the night before. I didn't know what to do, since I felt incredibly invigorated, and at the same time, freaked out by the rush I was feeling, but I was also hungry, and my friend have me an entire plate with a fork and said "help yourself." He extended his saucer to me, and I cut him a piece of the pie and handed it to him, then I looked at the pie, noticed that the pie was in an aluminum holder, and dumped the entire pie onto my plate and started eating it with 2 forks. I don't know where I found that other fork, it probably came from my friend. Anyhow, his wife wasn't happy, and I was already in magical christmas land. 2 days later, I was in my friends bed and I slept for 14 hours.
His wife outlawed my from having any of her baked goods for a while(which sucked because I could just show up at there house, steal some sweets, and leave) and said I couldn't have any energy drinks at her house, unless under close watch.
My friend, on the other hand, had to take me out to a steak dinner, because apparently I won a bet where I climbed a tree and didn't die.
The great land debate: Spoiler:

Explosive Peanut Lightning lands. Well, that's just what I call them.
i'm just trying to figure out what the point of saying this is. it's just really random.
And so the pot met the kettle.

im actually playing almost this same list, but i only have the mulch and the grisly salvage as my spells. all other cards are creatures and lands. I only play 20 lands. here is the list 4 - Deathrite Shaman 4 - Slitherhead 4 - Lotleth Troll 4 - Boneyard Wurm 4 - Dreg Mangler 4 - Splinterfright 4 - Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord 4 - Ghoultree Spells: 4 - Mulch 4 - Grisly Salvage Lands: 4 - Overgrown Tomb 4 - Woodland Cemetery 6 - Forest 6 - Swamp while playing the list I posted, im not impressed by the Lotleth Troll unless i have lots of Deathrite Shaman and Slitherhead on my hand eventhough the troll can stall the game until i have a 5/5 or greater creature on the field. I play tested this deck against a selesnya aggro type deck and an izzet control. I think the shaman and the slitherhead is not that good for the 1 drop. I can get lot of lands with the mulch and the salvage. im considering the Dawntreader elk for the mana ramp. Also this deck needs a life gain maybe Disciple of Bolas would do. Always ended up with only 5 or less life before I can set up the board. With a slitherhead that can be fed on the troll plus a dreg mangler, a 3/2 or maybe 4/3 troll plus a 3/3 mangler puts a pressure.

I used to Self-Mill a looooot when innistrad, had a nice green/black/blue deck, using the armored skaabs to mill myself and buy some turns and another creature finding milling spell with flashback that i forget.
Maybe 3 colors is a bit of a stretch since you cant really ramp so much and the great viridian emmisaries are gone but there is a card here that you guys HAVE TO GET, GNAW TO THE BONE, instant spell 3 mana, 2 life for each creature in cemetery aaaaaand it has flashback, if you need life, thats the card for you.
Just my 2 cents, if you guys can make an awesome self-milling deck im copying it cuz i love that mechanic

StarCity games premium just came out with a deck kind of like this (it doesn't have splinterfright, but in the article he mentioned he forgot splinterfright existed and plans to add him. It def. belongs here). Its a B/G/r deck. Here is the list:
|
Maindeck:
Creatures 2 4 3 3 2 1 4 4 4
Instants 1 4
Legendary Creatures 2 |
Planeswalkers 2
Sorceries 3
Basic Lands 3 1 3
Lands 2 4 4 4 |
Sideboard:
4 1 2 2 1 3 2

I like alot of what he does, especially the faithless looting. I'm going to play around with this and get back to you guys!

this deck needs a lot of creatures... if you can make the right count count to make a 3/3 Splinterfright and Boneyard Wurm on your 3rd turn that's good... but having small sized creatures on turn 4 would give you a hard time... I switched my Slitherhead to an Ulvenwald Tracker . This helps in removing blockers or to control their creature if you have a big guy out. Deathrite Shaman also helps in keeping my life or lossing life for my opponent. Lotleth Troll is basically good... (i take back what i said last time) Having a Lotleth Troll back to back with a Splinterfright or Boneyard Wurm plus a Ghoultree in your hand with lots of other creature cards, feed the troll and both creatures becomes big. Well... play testing this type of deck for days enlightened me on how this deck should be played. As much as possible, i tried to play a Ghoultree as fast as I can. There is this instance that i played a Ghoultree on my 3rd turn. This is what just happened... I drew Forest , Swamp , Mulch , Mulch , Ulvenwald Tracker , Lotleth Troll and a Ghoultree 1st turn I played Forest , cast Ulvenwald Tracker and then past the turn. 2nd turn I played my Swamp , cast Mulch , ( got no lands, all 4 cards are creatures that was thrown to the graveyard. my opponent laughed, because of no lands, I, too, was not happy about that because i may be delayed a turn after). 3rd turn I played my 2nd Mulch , got a Woodland Cemetery and 3 creature cards being thrown to the graveyard. Played my Woodland Cemetery . Then i noticed that 7 creature cards in my graveyard would lead to 1 drop Ghoultree . Well that was weird... and kind of disturbing... Well my opponent was also shocked with that having a 3rd turn 10/10 on the table plus a creature removal ( Ulvenwald Tracker ) will defintely wipe his creature out if he can't find any answer.

Yes, Ghoultree is the win. Splinterfright is the engine and backup crusher. Boneyard is not good enough most of the time.
I always forget about Tracker. He was in my deck pre rotation as a creature that does removal. He'll be making a return appearance asap.
I think the red is unnecessary and keeps you from playing rogue's passage, a darn good card.
Boasts?

You know, as much as I think 4 mana is a heavy activation cost on a land.... paying 4 to get a Ghoultree in is extremely efficient mana expenditure. And it should be convenient with a full set of Mulches and Grisly Salvages and Deathrite Shamans to push mana.
Sorry for the off-topic question but how do you add pictures to your signature? What kind of code do you have to use? Thanks in advance.
