Deck

Creatures - 16

Quirion Dryad x 1
Timberpack Wolf x 3
Giant Scorpion x 1
Servant of Nefarox x 1

Swamp x 8

This is basically its just a pure G/B aggro deck. The wealth of cheap and powerful creatures allows you to just keep sending out attackers, and you can always fall back on your enchantments to take care of any problematic blockers. Plummet is a mainboard card here, as is dark favor, as the deck has very few ways to interact with fliers and must rely on trades to take out any high power threats on the other side of the board.

So I went with a G/B aggro, with plenty of cheap drops. Deathtouch was fairly plentiful in this one, so I'm less worried then normal about large creature threats. The presence of a few Arbor Elves was heartening, as well as Ranger's Path and the Lotus. This deck is pretty much a racing aggro, which I think generally is an okay way to play Draft. I thought a lot about Bond Beetle. I really like it as a one-drop, because it retains its usefulness in the late game. Sure, Arbor Elf and Tormented Soul do as well, but I never really thought about Bond Beetle until this draft. Getting a nearly full sewt of Timberpacks was a good deal as well. The only real probelm I see here is lack of flying defence, but only a few flyers poked their heads out in this draft, and I plan to be on the assault pretty much always anyways. (Had this been an RtR draft, Azorius flyers would have burned me to the ground). Looking at the other players, it seemed B/U was the least in demand for them. I will try drafting that next, as it should be as a result more available.

So this time I went B/U Control. The presence of two Jace's Phantasms meant the potential for a fun mill/control/flyer deck was very much present. My only issue with this was I couldn't decide how creature heavy, how counter heavy, and how mill heavy this should be. I will probably post multiple versions of this deck, just to see what other people liked. First comes the 'balanced' version. The Jace's Phantasms are the cornerstones, with some negates/Essence scatters to keep your opponent from playing their probable aggros. A few Kraken Hatchlings make a formidable wall, while the other creatures generally serve to keep your draws nice and pretty. Generally there's going to be a lot of aggro in this format, so I included some bounce and downpours to keep your opponent stymied. Next thing I'm trying with this: Either fliers or some sort of green/blue draft turbofog variant.

Last one I promise. This one's a R/B Aggro. I realized what I love about this pairing is that removal and aggro go hand in hand, and red/black delivers the hurt in that category. This is a racing deck, to be sure. I passed up on some big drops in favor of removal and nimbleness. Mogg's Flunkies plus a few buds and some auras to buff them make up the offensive line, with some nice discard and removal bringing up the rear. Vile Rebirth is a favorite of mine, pumping out zombies in a deck that really doesn't need anyone to have a graveyard except for that specific move.

Round 1:
Torch Fiend
Swamp
Mogg Flunkies
Tormented Soul
Swamp
Kindled Fury
Mountain
Duty-Bound Dead
Smelt
Tormented Soul
