how do you feel about Staff of Nin as sideboard tech? in my list i would replace the Temporals with it and use it as a card to clear out small threats like blood artist who become dangerous with board sweepers or get that extra damage to a bigger creature or Restoration Angel vs Restoration Angel situations or simply ping the player while i wait for a win con. That and the extra draw a turn would be a significant help against those decks i have to go almost card for card against.
So after more testing and playing (and winning) tourney's this weekend, going 1-2-3, we've figured out some much needed facts.
*If your not playing this deck, your not winning. Period.
*If your not farseek'ing in type 2 right now, your not winning. Period.
*Sphinx of Fact or Fiction is a wrecking house, because Resto Angel hits it...and can't target Angel of Serenity.
*3 O ring's main.... Sphere's in the side. Everybody is running sphere...run O ring main, and take out their sphere's.
*Against Jund aggro/gb zombies/rakdos aggro centaur healers win games. Mulligan to a hand that can play a centaur healer after game 1.
I don't have time to post all 3 of our decklists, as 1 has jace's, no tameeyo...one is more midrange, two sphinx's, trostani and some life gain...and the other one has chalice and 4 angel of take ****...soooo I'll just get to our main thoughts at this point.
Does Rhox Faithmender have a home in this deck? 4 Selesnya charms? Deathrite Shaman in side for reanimator (giving you rest in peace, and shaman for graveyard hate)?
In closing. Farseek + Sphinx's Revelation +________ anything wins. Make those two work together with something else and I cannot stress enough how good it is.
I played against UWr miracles in the finals of the first tourney we had on friday. I must also mention he is a much better player than I...and I crushed his face in 2-0. Reanimator is a toss up. In that match up selesnya charm is simply a house. It does work, and getting the card advantage over them via sphinx of fact or fiction changes games. I have a 1 of gavony township that makes my angels and thragtusks more pissed off. I like it, also, temporal mastery is an additional win con against re-animator. I'm saying right now its about 50/50 game 1 against reanimator. After board its about 70/30.... (rest in peace, graffdigger's cage, and deathrite shaman are cards you have access to so if your meta is reanimator heavy, up your g/y hate)
I dropped gavony township from my list for rogue's passage... unblockable thragtusk, or Geist usually finish off the game with the opponent wondering what just happened. Usually its something like what... I'm dead that makes that unblockable? That's a dirty card! LOL
I have always wondered about the Sphinx of fact or fiction for this deck... I was always waiting/looking for a home for it as it just seems so awesome! now know
FOF sphinx is great, definitely become my go-to big guy for my blue control decks.
one big part is that its bigger than the creatures your opponennt has and since most removal doesn't touch him, he's good to go.
also, i can't remember if this list accounted for it or not, but there should definitely be a maindeck split between detention sphere and orings.
Not a split; first one is Sphere, second is Ring, every other copy is a Sphere. You don't want to have 2 Rings on the board against a deck with Spheres.

I am running a similar deck at FNM and on the weekends and I am rolling most opponents 2-0. I am having a lot of trouble with a true U/W control deck however. He is running 8 sweepers, 4 Jace, 2 Tamiyo, lingering souls, a couple of extra draw cards and it looks like 8 or so cancel/syncopate etc. I have been thinking about a counter-counter package of my own or possibly running some rancors because the real issue is that if he lands his Jace first it is almost impossible to get to him as he cancels any o-ring/d-sphere or wipes my threats before they can attack. Any suggestions would be appreciated. As to the deck, I am running arbor elves so I can untap my dual lands, and possibly run out a turn 3 Jace or Thrag. A large number of my plays have been:
T1: Forest of some type, arbor elf(hopefully) T2: Land and either farseek or centaur healer T3: I am off to the races depending on the board state with resto angel, d-sphere, planeswalker, thrag. etc. I am also running drogskol reaver and I am going down to 2 angels and replacing the 3rd with the sphinx to see how it works. I can post the list if anyone is interested.

that's fair. but i guess if a list is running 4 spheres, then i'd want 3 and 1, the 4th in the board if its wanted.
Blue is the best color ever. How do you deal?

In mine I am running Pilgrim over Arbor elf. I've found that the arbor elf is really really really situational. Arbor elf only untaps 1 dual currently in GWu. Pilgrim just fits better, and gives you the benefit when you have that green land and 2 blue opening hand, to get into a early sphinx's revelation for 2 or 3. Pilgrim also gives you that one white that you could sometimes need for that awkward turn 6 when you need to play a 3 drop dude and then flash resto angel in to save it. Also, Loxodon Smiter really wrecks any chance they have of jace staying in play. Every time I have gotten a smiter out turn 2 against u/w their jace winds up only getting used for one turn. This is what I found over 3 standard tourney's this weekend.
