Me: [Elite Vanguard] with [Heroes Resolve]. I cast [Mighty Leap] on the Vanguard then declare attacking with the Vanguard. Opp: Casts [Plummet]
Is the damage still dealt even though the Plummet destroyed the Vanguard?
PS - Sorry I forgot how to put the autocard function on.

since the creature is not around in the combat damage step (it has been destroyed before) it will not deal any damage

No. Your creature is not alive when the Combat Damage step comes around, so it will deal no combat damage.

Is the damage still dealt even though the Plummet destroyed the Vanguard?
actually, it depends when they cast the Plummet
if they cast it prior to the combat damage step, it won't deal damage because it's dead.
however, the opponent could wait until later in the turn (such as after the combat damage is dealt) for some odd reason to cast it and destroy it then
