Hi all,

I'm working on a deck with an alternate win-con of Laboratory Maniac , and I'm wondering if this works?

Aphetto Alchemist or Seeker of Skybreak are in play together with Mesmeric Orb .
I mill my whole deck to nothing, and then Dread Return Laboratory Maniac to play.

I assume I just can't tap Alchemist/Seeker again to trigger Mesmeric, as there's no card "on top of the library" to put in the GY, so Mesmeric just fozzles.
So I'll still need some cycling/draw card to then win?
Is this right?

Correct. The Orb's trigger won't "fizzle", it just woon't be able to do anything when it resolves. You actually have to draw a card before Labratory maniac makes you win.

you can "mill" cards from an empty library
but I'm not sure why you'd need to

anyway, you need some draw to actually lose win the game, use something with flashback or wait for your next turn

Deep Analysis , Desperate Ravings or Think Twice  looks like they'll do the trick.

Cheers!

If I was making suggestions for drawing a card once you've milled yourself, I'd add four Street Wraith s and four Gitaxian Probe s. Sure, they have to be in your hand, but anything that costs more than 1 mana to draw a card, you'll probably be waiting for a full turn cycle anyway, at which point you can just use the draw step to win.

I'll give it a go.
Thanks

Don't forget the Narcomoeba s to pay for the Dread Return . Also Basalt Monolith can tap to untap itself.

Got the Narcomoeba's already.
Gitaxian Probe was a good call, gonna use Edge of Autumn instead of the Street Wraith, has more synergy with the deck.
