Hello, I was wondering on why Preordain  was banned in Exteneded and Modern but Brainstorm  is considered legal? I have no issues with either, I am just curious as to why

Brainstorm is not legal in Extended or Modern the reason why Preordain (and Ponder  ) is banned in Modern is that it makes combo too consistent, and Wizards doesn't like that

I understand why now, look at the cards, detemine next move, draw into next play, rinse lather repeat? I can see why they were cut. I was just starting out when Ravager Affinity was popular, what an scary time that must have been.
