I'm struggling to find a way to make use of having a full graveyard or almost full graveyard to win the game. The thing is that I think I will be able to mill myself enough to have most of my cards in my graveyard in round 2. There must be a way to make use of this advantage! I just can't think of one that doesn't require at least some mana. Another problem is that my hand is probably also depleted come round 2.
I could of course link to a few cards that I've been thinking about, but I want to ask this question as openly I can. This is to not limit any good suggestions, even though they might take my deck in a different direction that I want to go at the moment.
That was one of the winconditions I have considered this far. The thing is I'm afraid I'm not able to get him into play fast enough. I did consider dread return , but there is no chance I'll have enough creatures to be able to flashback it. I wont have enough mana to use something like genesis to get him back either. There will of course be some times when I will get lucky and have 3 mana in round two, but then I wont be able to cast him before round 3. There is no way I'll be able to get 6 mana to use in round two divided between upkeep and mainphase. Songs of the damned is a card I'm considering, but it just doesn't make blue or green mana....
Animate dead (and similar cards) could of course work, but then again there are better ways of creating a good reanimation deck.
First, run a playset of narcomoeba s. Second, have a single (or 2) copies of anger in your deck (with mountain support from duals or shocks). Use dread return with the moebas to bring back sutured ghoul . Have enough creatures in the graveyard to make him 20/20 or more (quite easy). Swing for the kill thanks to haste. If you are afraid of chumpblockers, use wonder in your deck as well (a single steam vents solves the anger/wonder thing easily).
Now, may I ask you how you are getting your whole library in your graveyard by turn 2? Because if you aren't using what I think you are using, I can suggest more options for redundancy.
For linking a card to Gatherer without writting the name of said card for readers, use the autocard brackets together with and equal sign and right the name of the real card. Then put the message you want inside the tags, like you would do with autocarding. Like this:
I like storm crow because I really like crows in real life, as an animal, and the card isn't terribly stupid, but packs a good deal of nostalgia and also a chunck of the game's history. So it's perhaps one of the cards I have most affection to, but not because "lol storm crow is bad hurr hurr durr".
Although I do assume you deliberately refer to them (DCI) as The Grand Imperial Convocation of Evil just for the purposes of making them sound like an ancient and terrible conspiracy.
Now, now. 1994 doesn't quite qualify as "ancient".
Oh, it's a brilliant plan. You see, Bolas was travelling through shadowmoor, causing trouble, when he saw a Wickerbough Elder with its stylin' dead scarecrow hat. Now, Bolas being Bolas took the awesome hat and he put it on his head, but even with all his titanic powers of magic he couldn't make it fit. He grabbed some more scarecrows, but then a little kithkin girl asked if he was trying to build a toupee. "BY ALL THE POWERS IN THE MULTIVERSE!" he roared, "I WILL HAVE A HAT WORTHY OF MY GLORY." and so he went through his Dark Lore of Doom (tm) looking for something he could make into a hat that would look as stylish on him as a scarecrow does on a treefolk. He thought about the Phyrexians, but they were covered in goopy oil that would make his nonexistant hair greasy. He Tried out angels for a while but they didn't sit quite right. Then, he looked under "e" (because in the Elder Draconic alphabet, "e" for Eldrazi is right next to "h" for Hat) in his Dark Lore of Doom and saw depictions of the Eldrazi, and all their forms. "THIS SHALL BE MY HAT!" he declared, poking a picture of Emrakul, "AND WITH IT I WILL USHER IN A NEW AGE OF DARKNESS -- ER, I MEAN A NEW AGE OF FASHION!"
And so Nicol Bolas masterminded the release of the Eldrazi.
The last couple days have been roughly every perverse fetish imaginable, but it only got "creepy" when speculation on Mother of Runes's mob affiliation came up?
I like to think up what I consider clever names for my decks, only later to be laughed at by my wife. It kills me a little on the inside, but thats what marriage is about.
Of course, the best use [of tolaria west ] is transmuting for the real Tolaria.
Absolutely. I used to loose to my buddy's Banding deck for ages, it was then that I found out about Tolaria , and I was finally able win my first game.
Browbeat is a card that is an appropriate deck choice when there's no better idea available. "No better idea available" was pretty much the running theme of Odyssey era.
Modern is like playing a new tournament every time : you build a deck, you win with it, don't bother keeping it. Just build another, its key pieces will get banned.
I always find it helpful when im angry to dress up in an owl costume and rub pennies all over my body in front of a full body mirror next to the window.

Just do it like Yu-Gi-Oh or monkeys: throw all the crap you got at them and hope it works or else the by-standers (or opponents) just get dirty and pissed.
Normally it's difficult to pick up on your jokes/sarcasm. But this one's pretty much out there. Good progress. You have moved up to Humanoid. You'll be Human in no time.
My plan is to use avenging druid to fill up my graveyard. I've been into the anger/wonder idea, but I wouldn't get that going before I hit with avenging druid, so I decided it was redundant. Thanks for the suggestions slodice, but I'm afraid I wont be able to have more than 1 card extra available and since I need some very specific other cards that extra card will probably be just mana.
I will need 4 mana in round 1 to cast avenging druid and crimson wisps preferably. This will probably take me 7 cards. Lotus petal + chrome mox + elvish spirit guide + 1 more mana source + avenging druid + crimson wisps will be exactly 7 cards. Sometimes I will not get the chrome mox and be able to use only 1 card and sometimes I will get 2 moxes and be in trouble. Serum powder will be a good card to be able to get the hand I like.
To be able to get enough mana with fewer cards I think I'll have some red ritual and possibly manamorphose for colourfix. Memory's journey could make me able to put for instance miracles back into my deck, or something else useful. Just like a doomsday light.
I didn't think of the narcomoebas, but of course I should have. I still don't have any of those so I guess I need to raid an online store (and my wallet).
Please Please Please Autocard/// / / / [c]Protean Hydra[/c] => Protean Hydra / / / I can't read the cards you reference without it... / Well, ok, I CAN read the cards, but it involves opening Gatherer, looking your card up by name, hoping it's spelled right, and...
I'm just too lazy to do it, alright? Please Autocard.
Oh, that's why I wanted to know hat you'd be using to self mill.
Consider Hermit Druid . He needs only 2 mana to work, can still be activated in the next turn without you having to worry about chumpblocks, and allows you to use lands, which is quite decent. Just run only non-basics and you are set (which, in turn, makes the whole steam vents + wonder + anger plan even nicer)

Thanks for the answers all. I guess I'll be running simian spirit guide too, yes. Hermit druid looks even better than avenging druid. Shelldock isle didn't even cross my mind, but obviously fits the deck pretty well! I would still need something to put under it, but I bet that can be a singleton so I'll think of something.
