Why isnt a 3 of thalia in the main? Since control is what messes you up and you crush everything else?

I agree, Thalia seems like the answer to your woes against control and a generally relevant creature with the first strike.

KoG is much better against zombies and jund therefore Thalia is in the sb for control matchups.

Well do you think you can afford to pull that percentage down a bit to up your control matchup? I mean the pro black is super relevant, but the exalted doesn't seem exciting here. So... the 2/1 Pro Guy versus the 2/1 FS Tempo Crusher which you're immune to.
Also, I just suggested this as a strong sideboard card for Mr Indigo, Elite Inquisitor. He's real darn cute. KoG is probably better but in the first couple weeks after rotation Inquisitor will get in the way of all the random crap you'll run into a little better. For States in particular.

Yeah, with the lotleth deck variations and rancor now being in zombie/jund decks (trample), the pro black is weaker than first strike.
You'd have the tweak the manabase for Elite I think.

How on earth is first strike more relevant than pro black and exalted against zombies or jund?

I think that first strike versus pro black isn't really the correct comparison. It's more about hosing spells versus pro black.
Inquisitor is just a card not to forget about. Take it or leave it.

Your idea of a midrange strategy is to send one creature in for the attack? Pro black doesn't = invincible against any deck with black in it. Your jund matchups are just going to burn your knight when you attack with it solo, and you'll have just wasted an attack. It's a much better matchup against gb zombies, but I'd still put KoG in the sideboard over Thalia.

For midrange that is the correct strategy.
However you're potentially right about Kog Eating a burn spell. But in that case you let the exalted pump another guy who should be swinging and rarely should he be turned sideways if he's a value wall.
