For my reanimate decks I run atleast 1  Seance as it not only works during each players upkeep but gives less reliability on rites.

A friend and I came up with this after quite a bit of testing:

2 Arbor Elf
4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
2 Deathrite Shaman
4 Lotleth Troll
4 Splinterfright
3 Thragtusk
2 Armada Wurm
1 Griselbrand
1 Craterhoof Behemoth

2 Abrupt Decay
4 Grisly Salvage
3 Lingering Souls
3 Liliana of the Veil
3 Unburial Rites

4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Temple Garden
4 Woodland Cemetery
4 Forest
2 Gavony Township
2 Sunpetal Grove
2 Isolated Chapel

SB: 4 Centaur Healer
SB: 1 Thragtusk
SB: 1 Abrupt Decay
SB: 2 Restoration Angel
SB: 2 Garruk Relentless
SB: 2 Sever the Bloodline
SB: 1 Griselbrand
SB: 1 Craterhoof Behemoth
SB: 1 Angel of Serenity

The SB is very up in the air, and is also attempting the transformative SB. I think more removal in the SB, specifically O-Ring, would be necessary here. Also maybe some token board wipe.

This deck took the midrange-y approach of playing strong early / mid guys that also get guys into the graveyard, so that the deck isn't pure combo and has other lines of attack. Also Township, which wins games by itself a fair amount of the time.

Working okay so far. Just need to fit more removal in mostly, and come up with a more realistic sideboard plan.

I am primarily interested in playing Limited and Standard. I am also interested in Magic design and development, and in the game's history as a whole.

I am a proponent of being reasonable, rational, and openminded.

Niche's deck has been testing very well for me, but I've cut the mainboard Lilianas, replacing them with 1 Gnaw to the Bone and 2 Mulch. G/W has been doing decently, but the matchup against Zombies isn't nearly as winning as I'd like.

My enchantment durdle deck, however, wins every game it miracles a Terminus.

I love reanimator on the tables, but can't bring myself to FNM one cause of all the graveyard hate wizards felt to drop onto the world...

But for what it's worth(and I say this as someone whose never played with Angel of Serenity . Not wowed by it.), I'm in LOVE with Lingering Souls , Wild beastmaster and Craterhoof Behemoth . Turn 1 Dude . Turn 2 Wild Beastmaster . Turn 3 Mulch then another dude or maybe a flashed lingering souls . Turn 4 Craterhoof . That right there? 2 spudss, a Beastmaster and a craterhoof? 37 trample damage to the face.

If you've add a single Lingering into the math it's 81.

One thing I don't quite get about reanimation decks is that, reanimation spells cost almost the same amount of mana as the creatures you want to reanimate, and you go through so much trouble to get **** in the graveyard in the first place, that you can just run more ramp and hardcast the spells.

Note that discarding a creature to Lotleth, then reanimating that creature once is 2v1'ing yourself. Flashbacking Rites just puts you at even.

The weakness of these decks against midrange is that you have roughly the same amount of finishers, and they run real cards instead of gy enablers and they have a better mana. The weakness of these decks against control is that your rites aren't uncounterable like anything off caverns, and they run enough control to deal with all the threats midrange has to offer hardcasting, so your 5-10 win conditions won't even sweat them. These control decks have Tamiyo, 6-8 sweepers, Angel; getting an armada wurm reanimated will not just win you the game.

The only reason you might even want to consider playing reanimation is Grieselbrand. That's the only card that has an immediate impact, that's big enough to win the game alone, and once dealt with, leaves you with a fresh 7 and thus hopefully some more business.

Edit: I'd run a MD like this:

4 Lotleth Troll
4 Splinterfright
4 Thragtusk
4 Griselbrand
4 Angel of Serenity

4 Grisly Salvage
4 Mulch

4 Liliana of the Veil
4 Unburial Rites

4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Temple Garden
4 Woodland Cemetery
3 Swamp
3 Forest
2 Sunpetal Grove
4 Isolated Chapel

I can't imagine you wanting anything less than 4 Griselbrand, 4 Rites. Once you figure your removal is angel and Liliana, it's much easier to go all in on these and cut useless removal for more space. This deck will intend to use Mulch, Salvage and Splinterfright fully for value. 12 2CMC cards ensure to cast a turn 3 Splinterfright. There's little reason to ramp with mana durdles. You'll be fighting back-to-back sweepers and last thing you want in this situation is to lose your mana sources. Be a little more slower but more persistent.

If you don't commit fully to the combo, you're just hurting the deck for no reason at all. You want to make a powerful play (turn 4 griselbrand/angel) and have your opponent try deal with it. You want to have an engine and a game plan. You want value out of all your draw steps.

Ok, I love the synergies here. It's basically unstoppable once you draw 7 with Griselbrand.

See, this is a deck I can get behind. Dedicated combo, does something degenerate, wins the game on the ****ing spot once you grab something with Rites.

I think some of those quantities can use some tweaking, but yes, all in on reanimator or dont bother is the play.

I changed my list to this.

4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Pack Rat
3 Thragtusk
4 Griselbrand

3 Liliana of the Veil

3 Dead Weight
4 Grisly Salvage
3 Mulch
4 Lingering Souls
2 Sever the Bloodline
4 Unburial Rites

4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Isolated Chapel
4 Woodland Cemetery
4 Swamp
3 Forest
1 Temple Garden
2 Sunpetal Grove

SB: 3 Abrupt Decay
SB: 3 Acidic Slime
SB: 2 Sever the Bloodline
SB: 2 Gnaw to the Bone
SB: 2 Golgari Charm
SB: 3 Appetite for Brains

Managed to get the severs in. I won't trade out Pack Rat for Troll... since with 20 creatures Troll won't always grow but Pack Rat can still steal games. Adding Mulch was good.

Why this card? What about Tragic Slip?

Have you test against GWx aggro...Rest in Peace? Rest is pain in the butt for Reanimator and Zombies

Dead Weight is significantly better against zombies that Tragic Slip. Weight kills Diregraf without morbid, but more importantly, is a permanent debuff incase they manage to take Lotleth troll out of killing range with it.

GW aggro is easy enough to handle, you just basically ramp into win.
