Just so you guys know, don't hold your breath waiting for a resolution to this issue. Stainless/Wizards have a horrible track record when it comes to issues like this in DotP.

So in other words, we just have to put up with the fact that whenever we play now, we lose the decks etc? Seems idiotic to me that they wouldn't fix it, since after two or three consecutive losses, people are going to rage quit. After paying for a game, you expect it to work, not delete all your progress repeatedly until it is no longer worth playing. I haven't even touched mine since it happened, hoping it would eventually be resolved as I don't want to play it just to lose all my data again. If they aren't going to fix it, someone is going to get some emails from me looking to get my money back, because expecting me to pay for an unplayable game is laughable.
Also, not sure if anyone else noticed, but this all started happening around the time of the new game update. Perhaps the update itself is flawed in some way? Maybe they should look into that.

If you're playing on Steam, do not ever pick or trust the Steam Cloud option. You will lose your progress every single time. Always, always always pick your local hard drive. It really sucks that you had to find out the hard way. If it's any consolation (probably isn't) but at least Steam users have an option. Xbox, PS3 and iPad users don't. We randomly lose our progress and there's nothing we can do to stop it and, in addition, there's nothing anyone can do to help us either.
I've always picked that option, and I've never had this problem. Actually, for the 4-5 years that I've used Steam, this has never been the issue with any of my other games. Whether I chose the steam cloud or not is hardly the issue here (although I won't do it for dotp in the future), it's the fact that countless amount of people have lost their progress and this issue hasn't officially been addressed.
Can you imagine if WoW players log in to their accounts and find out that their characters have been reset ? Blizzard would be out of business...

I have waited for too long. I will just go and buy the first 10 decks, then disable steam cloud for this game, steamroll the campaigns, finally play the expansion, put the promo codes and have fun all in all.

Seems idiotic? You just joined so you have no idea I'm assuming. No offense intended when I say that; what I do mean is this issue has been a problem for 3 years now across 3 versions. It's never been a problem they've been interested in fixing in the past. At least it's looking like that is changing thanks, in part, to Sean. At least it looks like he's actively reporting it.
If it happens to me again, I'm not sure if I'll ever play 2013 again and I might just take a pass on it until 2014 comes out. It's really going to depend on how frustrated it makes me. It's too bad too because I, and many other people, really enjoy this game; it's a lot of fun for a low cost but I feel the frustration when this occurs makes it not worth it at all.

I have to say i wont be playing this game again, im not paying for keys or unlocking all the decks again ever week or two. Sorry wizards\stainless\sean this was a great game thats been ruinined by this bug.
The only thing that would make me play again would be a free full game unlock code\key, Till then see you guys in Dotpw 2014

Wow, I can barely believe it. When I noticed this thread this afternoon, I thought it was about people accidentally downloading from the steam cloud rather than uploading taking away a bit of progress, but now I start the game and I lost EVERYTHING except for a bunch of useless avatars, my 23 of 25 achievements, and my ranking on the leaderboards (1158 in 1v1).
I had fully unlocked all decks except Exalted, the soldier weenies and Azorius which took forever, and I'm not going to do it again. Is there any hope of me getting my progress back?
1. I play on steam. 2. I have just one account. 3. I activated the expansion and had almost all cards. I assume I can still use the decks if I bothered to unlock them, which I won't be. I had the promo unlocks, which are all gone as well. 4. Yesterday I unistalled the game and steam because I had to fix my windows partition ( I run the game via bootcamp on my macbook). Right before I did that, I noticed the game was syncing with the steam cloud. I was online, so I assumed all my progress was put online as well. Just now I reinstalled Steam and Duels 2013 only to find out I can't go online with the new build I had in mind, because the only decks I have are Garruk's, Ajani's and Chandra's. 5. Like explained above, everything was lost except for useless stuff like achievement, avatars (although I believe I did lose a number of them), and my ranking. I also lost the personal profile that says what color of magic I like to use. The only thing I care about is the decks though, is there a way for us to get them back? I don't see the point of playing this game again if I can't.
Please let us know if there is any solution in sight.

While we continue to collect information on why the save data loss is occurring between the different platforms, there are methods which may work to prevent this from happening for Steam users. This has worked for both myself and a number of players and largely has to do with the way saved games are stored on both Steam and your hard drive. Method #1 – Back up saved game data before the loss occurs The first method must be done as a precaution before the saved data loss occurs. It involves navigating to your Program Files/Steam/userdata/########/ folder. The “########” is your user data number and is different for every player (mine was 8 digits long). Within it, copy and paste the entire “97330” folder to a separate location such as your Desktop or Documents library. The 97330 folder contains your profile data, including which cards you’ve unlocked. If you ever experience a loss in saved game data, this can be used to restore the progress you had when you last backed it up. All you’ll have to do is replace the bad 97330 with your backed up version. Method #2 – For users playing on multiple PCs If you’ve just started Duels of the Planeswalkers on another PC (let’s call it PC #2) and find that your saved progress is gone, there’s a chance that it’s still intact on your other computer’s (PC #1) hard drive. Close Steam and switch back to PC #1. Copy your 97330 folder as described in Method #1. One issue is that Steam automatically stores and copies your saved game data to your profile unless you uncheck “Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for games which support it” from within Steam’s settings ( Steam >> Settings >> DOWNLOADS + CLOUD ). Turn off Steam Cloud sync on PC #1 before starting Duels of the Planeswalkers. If you find that your original saved progress is still intact, the 97330 folder you just backed up has your game progress. Hang on to it just in case. Before closing Duels of the Planeswalkers, make sure you force the game to save your progress either by playing a match or editing a deck in the Deck Editor. This makes it so your good saved game is also the newest saved game. You can then re-enable Steam Cloud sync in the settings. Restart Steam and start Duels of the Planeswalkers. Steam should prompt you with the following window: This is where a lot of people encounter the save game loss problem on Steam. The files stored in the Steam Cloud are likely the blank saved game with no unlocks. Choose “Local Files” instead. This will copy your PC #1 files over to the Steam Cloud instead of the other way around. If you get a similar prompt later when you switch back to PC #2, select “Cloud Files” to overwrite the blank saved game with the new (good) one. PLEASE NOTE that after selecting “Local Files” on PC #1, you may get the following message: If you do, click “Play Game” and make sure your cards & decks are still unlocked. It may help to restart Steam as well, since this forces the Steam Could to sync.

I tried using Pandorra recovery to find the files that were erased, but the space on my harddrive has already been overwritten. I don't have any other computer that could have the files.
But since it is just a matter of a file that contains the data we lost, it should be possible to solve this problem. Since the data for our accounts was only partially destroyed (if it isn't still out there on the steam cloud somewhere), someone should respond to people who lost their progress by sending back files with all unlocks with an explanation how to combine them with the data for our personal accounts. If this can't be done and if there is no other way to get our files back, I say the codes to unlocking all decks should be made public.
It seems loads of people have this problem, and I'm quite sure not finding a solution would be an expensive loss of customers. That would include me and a group of friends that were going to buy the game but I now convinced to do otherwise.
