This is an un-official tournament, just for fun. The rules are as follows: 8, players, single-elimination. Each round each player will be paired with one other player, with randomly selected decks to duel best of 5 games. New decks will be included. Eack round will start Saturday night at midnight, and players will have 1 week to play, and post to this thread, or no points will be scored. The tournament will go 3 rounds. Each win is worth 1 pt. Most points after 3 rounds wins the tournament, ie. the player who is undefeated. (The points help every one to determine who is 2nd, 3rd, etc.) Winners of each round will play each other until one is victorious. Losers of each round will like-wise go on to play each other.
So unless At-least 4 of you object, I'm gonna auto include 1 of the new decks. Here's how ! am going to do it. Roll 1: 1 six sided die, with a guild assigned to each number 1 through 5. (re-roll 6) Roll 2-5: roll 1 20 sided die, with each deck (including new ones) assigned to numbers 1-15. re-roll 16-20 Any duplicates will also be re-rolled so nobody playes 1 deck more than once per round.

As a suggestion, just to make things a little more interesting, how about having one deck guaranteed to be from the Expansion?
As in, assign each deck to 1-15, with the Expansions being 1-5. Pick a random from 1-5 first, then pick four from 1-15 (discarding multiples of the same deck)?

im in this should be fun. 8 souns like a good number because when its 16 to many people randomly drop out. if you don't have at least 20-30 hours free a week you shouldn't enter tournaments just my opinion. i myself work and can get about 30 free time.

yea i mean what i said 20-30 hours. most of us have jobs and work a 5 day week so that 40-50 taking out of your week. There are 168 hours in a week and you only need to set an hour aside to play your opponent. but you will have to agree on a time that works for both of you so when i say 20-30 hours of free time im talking about time that you have some type of control of and you can rearrange to fit your opponent schedule. if you can only get 2-3 free hours a week even with a job and wife and kids you really shouldn't be do this tournament. Because i could be at work those 2-3 hours you have free.

First one was Pack Instinct (me) vs Ancient Wilds (him) and he won, second was Aura Servants vs Grinning Malice and I won, third was a Mindstorms mirror match which I won as well. #4 was Sepulchral Strength against Collective Might, and Logan won. These 4 games were all very close, but on the fifth it was me with Goblin Gangland and him with Dream Puppets, I had a fantastic hand and went first so it was over pretty fast.
So in short, I won 3-2. It was great fun, looking forward to the next round.

A 2 headed giant tournament sounds amazing! Getting 4 people to together to play at the same time does not. I think the earlier thread discussion about 2/3 hours free time vs 20/30 he's free time says it all.

I don't want to reward haters, as I've been the target of tons of hatemail my-self. It goes without saying that if anyone is rude to anyone during the tournament they will be disqualified. There is really never an excuse to be rude, especially in a game designed around having fun and socializing. I think this thread should be Democratic, and all decisions should be what the majority agrees on. Noob seems remorseful, and has promised to play nice, so I would set to give him another chance. I hope this doesn't spoil this for you as I really like having you in the tournament, and hope you'll stay. Crysus, ill be online tonight after 8 pm mountain time, until late.

If someone starts a 2gh league I'm in.. I suppose every one would have to post their theoretical availability to look for a common time every one cloud get together. All members would have to corelare some free time with all other members, and be serious about the league to pull it off. Also you would probably need 16 people to have a proper pod. Seems tough, but given how awesome it would be, its not impossible.

I'd say, for the sake of "the community", that all past transgressions should be wiped. If somebody acts the fool during an actual tournament though (or does nonsense like no-showing), then let the ostracizing commence.

first game was me pack instant vs him ancientwilds i drew nothing but land for the first five turn but manage to win with a primal bellow on one of my unblocked creatures i got in for 19 damage.
next game was me born of flames vs him ss. I burn him to death lol. sorry short on time
next game was me OD vs him mindstorm. he won i took a bad hand and got mana flooded manage to get an obliterator out he got control of it two turns later timewarped and got the win.
last game was me minstorm vs him crosswinds. He got mane stuck i took control and won.
I won 3-1 I will try and give more details later. aaronjoncheney was a great opponent and i enjoyed playing him i wish the best. Now on to round 2.

Also, I would like to hear any ideas on deck choices, because I like the idea of random decks, but some of us have combos we like to play too. Thinking four random and one of your choice for each player, how you and your partner play them is your choice entirely, and no sideboarding in any given match, but feel free before or after. To be frank, I wouldn't mind disquallifying mill either, but that is my own personal hatred there, so just disregard that...

I think people could use any deck but the 2 mono blue decks should be prohibited. Reason being that a good beginning hand on the mill deck will can net you a win by turn 5, and if paired with crosswinds it would be too painful.
Crosswinds paired with any deck is a guaranteed win 80% of the time IMO.

yeah im with the random guest we definitely should bane mill because its no fun to play against. crosswind should be allowed its just really anoying when paired with mill. come to think of it we should only use the new decks it would be much more fun.

I'm OK with banning mill just because it's no fun, but what about the non-mill Dream Puppets build? That's how I run DP, the only mill cards I have in are Hedron Crab, Thought Scour, and Mind Sculpt (and Sword of Body and Mind, of course). I don't think it's unfun to play against, but I wouldn't run it by choice in 2HG anyway.

I began with 3 forests in my hand so i was kinda screwed, she had a super creature with tons of auras but i killed him with a swords to plowshares this wasn't enough coz she played good creatures with auras so i was in a bad shape.

This was the best match of the night, i was screwed with 3 lands and she had like 6-7 so she dropped bombs like Spiritmonger x2 and a Sewer Nemesis but i had tons of removal and when i got lands i just killed her with my 2nd Spiritmonger with a rancor .

I had very bad hand with 5 lands and 2 goblins so she just killed me with easy with her hero of bladehold .

She just quitted after i dropped my 7th land coz she began the match with just 5 cards and only 1 of them was a land so she was landscrewed pretty bad.

The last match I was playing Mindstorms, not Collective Might.
Way too much luck on both sides for my taste, I had 2xGo For the Throat in hand in the second match so I could have handled any creature except Spiritmonger, and had Ascetism out, but just wasn't drawing anything.
I had to mulligan down to 5 cards to even have a single land in the last match, and then drew exactly 1 land in 7 turns.
This is why I was hoping it would be double elimination this tournament, it's too easy to have one bit of bad luck ruin everything.

Double elimination only works with 16 people, as you need to have a "loosers bracket" that the players go back and forth between, and typically it's used in a tournament with more than 3 rounds. If we ever play with 12, or 16 people we can easily adopt it. Also, its more complicated, and I didn't want to leave the tournament open to speculation and argument about the results.

So according to the official rules we still have today and tomorrow to post our results, I'm on and I'll be on till 10 pm CDT, so hopefully we'll play today and there will be no problem

Like you said you'll haven't been able to log in at the same time since Wednesday and you gave the forum no update. when everyone else has finish there games. plus from what you wrote you and your opponent still dont have a set time to play your game and your on a 24 hour clock. I hope you play your games before then but in the future it would be nice if you took 3 minutes out your very busy day and let the forums know whats going on with you.

Typically, in a bye situation the person with the bye gets a win. That's how they run it at sanctioned paper magic tournaments. The second and third round byes always go to the player with the fewest pts. so as the pts. can't win him the tournament. This is a democracy, though, so what ever the group as a whole agrees with. Since we are doing a points system, if someone plays twice in a round, then they get double points. Yes there are only four left in the winners bracket, but I was still gonna pair the loosers every round to determine 3-8th place, and its more fun/interactive. Let me know what you think, I just placed the pairings, but I can change them however people want.
It seems like the 7 we have are serioius and able to get together and play, so how about making this a league?

Second game was Grinning Malice vs Celestial Light. Crysus had lifelinkers and a couple of lions in play early. I had no removal and not enough lands to play any of my big creatures so it was over pretty fast as well.
Third game was Born of Flame vs Crosswinds. It was pretty straighforward, I burned away and finished things up with an Inferno Titan .
Fourth game was Sepulchral Strength vs Born of Flame. This one was more drawn out, and I ended up losing to Hostility 's tokens.
Fifth game was Collective Might vs Mindstorms. It was also pretty long, the only tokens I managed to put in play in ealy game all got burnt, but I had several of the deck's strong creatures, like the Liege, the Ant Queen, the indestructiblity rhyno, etc and two Beastmaster Ascention s in play. It took a while to activate them but eventually my creatures were 14/14 and 15/15 and there wasn't much Crysus could do about that.
So all in all I won 3-2. Great games.

to me this tournament been over for a long time to many people not playing there game say they don't have a t.v yet inter other tournaments just saying.
this tourtament was more like a test. we should make a new one with only the people who played all of there games and N00BGamerIsN00b since i don't believe it was his fault for not being able to play his game. Soratami should be the winner by default because he has the most points unless noob an Soratami can play there match in the next couple of days. The reason aaronjoncheney is ending it is because hes trying to his best to run this tournament and getting no updates as to whats going on and i fully support his decision. noob your opponent has yet to play one game in this tournament so i believe the chances are low that you'll will get your game done before the deadline and i believe most people in this tournament want it to be over with or just not that in to it.
