I have 3rd Edition Fog
I don't know if my link will show that edition, so I'm typing it out.
"Creatures attack and block as normal, but none deal any damage or otherwise affect any creature as a result of an attack or block."
If my opponent attacked with his Cockatrice and forced one of my creatures to block, if I cast Fog would that save my blocker from destruction?
I've noticed other editions of Fog just say no combat damage is dealt.

The edition of fog doesn't matter. All cards get played by their oracle text, which can be looked up at gatherer.wizards.com. Fog's oracle text is "Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn."

Fog will not stop cockatrice from killing your creature.
