If there is no artifact available to destroy when I cast [c]Uktabi Orangutan[\c] does he go to my graveyard?

The ability will simply be removed from the stack and have no effect. The creature remains on the battlefield.

So with Lord of Tresserhorn if I have no creatures to sacrifice do I ignore that part of the text?

No, he doesn't specify to sacrifice creatures other than himself, so if you only control him or just 1 other creature, both would be sacrificed, and your opponent still gets to draw cards and you still lose life. The Uktabi Orangutan simply had no targets for its effect. You always follow all instructions on a card's ability as much as possible.
