@ AzureShade: Yay! Now we can conduct business properly. I too believe that a red splash is unnecessary, so I will give it to you straight. Firstly, there is a widely held belief that slitherhead is simply an inferior creature for this archetype. I recommend that Diregraf ghoul take its place. I think you have enough kill spells. If you feel that you need another, I suggest liliana of the veil as she will enable you to kill creatures with hexproof ( geist of saint traft ). I do not see the need to run both vile rebirth AND deathrite shaman . Their main function is to screw your opponents graveyard tricks so it's up to you as to what you want as a bonus. I like deathrite shaman a tad more, but i don't think that he is "strictly" better than vile rebirth . 4 copies of rancor is too much. It is a support card, so 3 copies max (I run 2). This is especially true for you since you only have 8 lands that produce green mana (that might be a problem) How do you feel about this...? CREATURES: 20 4x gravecrawler 4x diregraf ghoul < /span> 4x lotleth troll < /span> 4x dreg mangler < /span> 4x geralf's messenger OTHER SPELLS: 17 4x Tragic Slip 3x Rancor 4x Abrupt Decay 3x Vile Rebirth < /span> 3x Sign in Blood LAND: 23 4 Woodland Cemetery 4 Overgrown Tomb 3 Cavern of Souls 10 Swamp 2 forest

I'm pretty sure he has access to one or two Liliana of the Veil 's. If we decided to go that route, what would we cut for them?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in an thread with GM_Champion" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against AzureShade when card design is on the line!

Adding two liliana of the veil means cutting 2 cards. So I would say cut any combination of the following: -1 abrupt decay -1 dreg mangler -1 geralf's messenger -1 rancor -1 tragic slip -1 vile rebirth It sounds weird, but there isn't a wrong decision here. taking out 1 copy of any two cards on this list won't hurt you. It is up to you on what you value in your deck.

Here is the decklist I am currently testing:
4 X Diregraf Ghoul 4 X Gravecrawler 4 X Geralfs Messanger 4 X Blood Artist 4 X Dreg Mangler 3 X Abrupt Decay 3 X Desecration Demon 2 X Revenge of the Hunted 3 X Rancor 4 X Tragic Slip 2 X Killing Wave
4 X Overgrown Tomb 4 X Woodland Cemetery 2 X Cavern 3 X Forest 11 X Swamp
Sideboard is yet to be decided depending on meta.
If I have a dreg mangler and a gerralfs in hand it seems I 90% always play the mangler first this guy is a tank. Main synergy with B.Artist comes off of removal, killing wave and Des Demon.

@cyberzilla: what if I told you that deathrite shaman and rakdos cackler are both better card choices than slitherhead ? @eladavus: I like that you are making blood artist work. Desecration demon is much better than bloodthrone vampire for that role.

There is a G/B Zombie thread already in place. Read into it. Post your deck there and I will gladly give my input
So it has been written, so it shall be done.
Creatures: 4 Gravecrawler 4 Slitherhead 4 Lotleth Troll 4 Dreg Mangler 4 Geralf's Messenger Spells: 4 Tragic Slip 4 Rancor 4 Abrupt Decay 4 Vile Rebirth Land: 4 Woodland Cemetery 4 Overgrown Tomb 2-4 Cavern of Souls 8-10 Swamp Needs either more kill spells, another creature, or something else? Candidates include: - Blood Artist - Knight of Infamy - Deathrite Shaman - Sign in Blood - Diregraf Ghoul Anyway, any suggestions or tweaks? I'm not willing to branch out into red for fear of overcomplicating the deck. I need this thing to run solid and simple.
Vile Rebirth doesn't work on turn one, Slitherhead doesn't have str 2; consider Rakdos Cackler and Diregraf Ghoul instead. (Swapping all Slitherhead s for Rakdos Cackler s may not be right; see what happens in playtesting)
Your mana curve looks interesting; do you understand the odds of drawing three cc 1 spells including Rancor or playable Tragic Slip / Vile Rebirth , or the Lotleth troll , in your first eight cards or was this accidental? It should be fairly reliable either way. (16(20), 4, 8 is unusual but works when you cast two cc 1's on the second turn often enough)
Anyway, this looks quite decent. Don't use the Cavern of Souls until you know you have the reliably enough; three out of nine ( Geralf's Messenger ) is 20 black on average out of sixty cards. You may have to add a swamp or two (dropping 1 cc spells), but don't do this until you've done some playtesting and know you need it.

@cyberzilla: slitherhead being a 1/1 with free scavenge is not the same as being a 2/2. I understand why people think he is decent. But the fact of the matter is that he just does not pack enough punch. At least we agree with Rakdos Cackler . Now I need to make an argument for Deathrite Shaman . Yes, for the most part he will "just" be doing 2 damage a turn. But that is more than slitherhead is doing a turn. besides damage, while the shaman is dealing damage, you are also, preferably, exiling pesky cards with flashback or cards that can be given flashback via snapcaster mage . and when you are not dealing damage with deathrite shaman , you are exiling pesky creatures with undying or enemy gravecrawler s, while gaining 2 life in the process. He is way more useful than [c]slitherhead[c].

Yeah i totally agree with 'Anointed One', slitherhead is pretty weak in this deck. His place will shine in the G/B/R mid range with cards like corpsejack menace etc. If his scavenge was instant it could lead to some nice combat tricks but its only sorcery so not worth it. I love Rakdos Cackler was really hoping to fit him in just because of the art lol (really hoping they do a FNM promo of him).
What is interesting is that you mentioned Deathrite Shaman, this card seems strong in the mirror and against all other graveyard antics, I predict this card will become a staple sideboard card in this deck.
Another sideboard option I was thinking that might be necessary is pithing needle. This is purely to counter their sideboard option of Tormonds Crypt, thoughts?
