Was I right on Boros and Selensya? And I wish we got to learn more about all the Paruns. It sucks that only 3 are left. And there were only 5 in the first Rav.

If you want to get technical, Azorius was Azor 1st.
But yes, Mat'Selesnya and Razia were the Paruns of their guilds.

Svogthir was present in the original Ravnica.

And the Obzedat that in power were not the Paruns.

It's been 10,000+ years since the signing of the original guildpact, it's remarkable that we have any left.

My personal rule is to divide all fantasy chronologies by at least 10. It rarely fails me.

Even then...

Azor I was just a human. Most likely he died from old age. I assume the same is true for Cisarzim and Simic.

Razia and Szadek died in the original Ravnica storyline. This is very recent (relatively to the Guildpact signing, at least).

Rakdos, Niv-Mizzet, Obdezat, are still here. Svogthir's spirit may still exist somewhere somehow. The same for Mat'selesnya.

So, even after ten millennia, five paruns were still directly leading their guilds, and other two were still around, with just three dead and gone. The survivors were the angel, vampire, demon, dragon, and different flavours of ghosts/spirits. The dead ones where the ones with human/elvish lifetimes, I assume.

Azor 1 was human of course.
Cizarsim was murdered by Svogthir for his sexy body.
Simic... we have on clue what happened to him. We have little in the way of indication towards a Vedalken's life span.

That's a pretty good rule; I'm taking it. Thanks!

I remember(ish) some piece of Warcraft lore I read(ish); Elves (of some sort) chased the Trolls out of their original homeland, and the Trolls just hung around outside fuming, for two thousand years. Maybe it makes sense because all fantasy races live for centuries, for no reason. Why is that? I guess a boring old human lifespan doesn't leave enough time for adventures!

I think Mat'selesnya was in Vitu Ghazi as of Herndon's trilogy.
