So, magic versus a game with more variance, fewer counters, and more degenerate decks?
I wonder...

So, how would I use a card that has a large in the top half and "sui?l? -- pu?? ?is?q" across the middle?
Winning is not important if:
1. You win by a blowout.
2. You pay billions of dollars in cards to win. If you like wasting money just to win one game, while you could have saved it to lose a few and end up winning more in the future, then it is fine by me.
what?
do you ceremonially light your deck on fire after a win?
Or did no one notice Transmogrifying Licid before. (And by not notice, I mean covered their ears and shouted LA LA LA LA )
Hmmm...
I think the most awkward situation at the moment is simply the Myr Welder / Equipment / Licid / Aura craziness, but I'm pretty sure he's aware of it.
If the most awkward thing going on right now involves Licids, I declare victory.

Mage is awesome, BTW.
Dear Mage24365,
You are totally awesome. Thank you so much. I hope you are able to dine in Paradise without kicking the bucket to actually get there, and that every dollar you ever make magically becomes two more.
I don't think there are any cards like that.
There are things that prevent you from activating activated abilities, things that increase their cost, and things that counter them, but I don't think anything triggers from them specifically.
There are things that trigger from targeting, so that might be relevant, but I can't think of anything that triggers from targeting a player.
I'm almost positive there's nothing that triggers from damage being prevented.
Rings of Brighthearth ; Dormant Gomazoa ; Samite Ministration .
Well played.

I suspect only someone who has played both games at the upper levels of competition could give an accurate answer.
Edit: Sorry, a true answer, anyone can luck into giving the accurate answer.

It's been a while since I played yugioh and not sure how much strategy has changed. I would say that Magic requires more strategy and skill. Magic has mulligans, while yugioh doesn't. Magic has more card types than yugioh ( 7 vs 3) unless yugioh has added stuff other than creatures, traps, and spells. Magic requires you to manage a resource (mana) that yugioh doesn't. Yugioh sort of limits your option in a turn ( 1 normal summon, limited board spaces, can't play traps that weren't set a turn before) which sort of limits strategy. Yugioh has smaller deck sizes (40 vs 60) and smaller starting hands (5 vs 7). Less resources usually means less strategy since you have fewer possible decisions. I think Magic requires more skill. I feel that I'm constantly learning new strategies and improving at playing Magic. I never really felt that when I was playing yugioh. Yugioh usually just seemed like whoever had the better cards would win regardless of skill or strategy. I could be completely wrong though since I'm comparing yugioh from about 6 or 7 years ago to current magic.

Just my opinion but having played both of the games extensively here is my conclusion
A player who is slightly more skilled in magic than another player can attribute 70% of his wins to skill and 30% of his wins to luck A player who is slightly more skilled in yu gi oh can attribute 50% of his wins to skill and 50% to luck
A player who is significantly more skilled in magic than another player can attribute 99% of his wins to skill and 1% of his wins to luck A player who is significantly more skilled in yu gi oh than another player can attribute 90% of his wins to skill and 10% of his wins to luck.
I've not been a top tier player in either game but I've had my share of large tournaments and top 8's this is just a general number and not based on any statistical analysis but you could say an educated guess from years of playing each game both competitive and casual.
