I found this artwork on DeviantArt and *had* to make a card to fit it. It was cropped a little to be more 'generic'... see the original here: browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/paintin...Yes, I realize the card is kind of swingy the way it is. Sometimes it will be a total bomb and sometimes a huge dud, at it's current cost. Any ideas to fix? (P.S. i forgot to update the artist credit on the card image)

Not good in constructed. Could shine in limited. The main thing that bothers me about it is that it does both mill and damage, two completely unrelated effects. You should connect them somehow. Destroy target creature. It's controller exiles cards from his or her library equal to that creature's power, then loses two life for each nonland card exiled this way. This also avoids the "Toughness shouldn't be related to powerful effects." rule. It's not a real rule, but if you look at cards like Momentous Fall , you'll see it in practice. The card draw is related to power and the life gain is equal to toughness. That's because toughness is extremely cheap in Magic, so the card could easily draw you a lot of cards if it checked toughness for draw (but toughness and life are also related flavorfully, so it works out). Lifegain is a tiny effect, and nobody cares if you waste two cards and pay six mana to gain six life off your Wall of Tanglecord and Fall.

The set this card is a part of is focused on limited playability (Eventually I intend on printing the cards and drafting with friends using the set, in a vacuum). I dropped the cost to and changed from 'loss of life' to damage, because damage is easier to interact with, and I'm using your suggested wording.

I like it. But at five mana I question whether it is too good to be an uncommon. In most cases it will be like Spread the Sickness , but with Lava Axe instead of proliferate. It also could be really swingy, potentially doing like ten damage.
