This reminds me of a story my bro told me, of some female tech writer dumping a guy because he was once a pro MtG player, which she thought was incredibly nerdy.

I keep forgetting to ask him the name of the guy and/or the girl so I can look the story up myself.
But anyway I think even she was considered to be a fool, the moral of the story is... that yes, some people will consider MtG nerdy.
If you want to quit because of that reason, well that's up to you and there's probably nothing wrong with that either.

I know that story. I don't think it's foolish, it is her choice to make really.

It's a passion that requires a lot of time and traveling. I can see why someone would decide not to become commited with someone on the basis of what that person does for a living.

That said, if it was really just the fact that she didn't want to look childish having a boyfriend (and possibly husband in the future) who played card games for a living, that is kind of absurd. I forget the full story.

From what I understand I think it was partly the fact she made the situation public by writing about it and insulting him, as well as the irony behind her being a tech journalist but calling someone else nerdy. (and supposedly he is better looking than her) Also I assume he no longer played MtG in which case him doing it for a living is not really an issue.

Still would like to know more about this.

Oh yeah, writing about it (unless it was a response to comments) is definitely pretty childish.

Also some tech journalists aren't really the nerdy type. Some are just glorified journalists who don't know much more about technology than the average person.

You're saying that like nerds never have dead-end jobs at Burger King.

Oh god this.

There are so many apathetic "nerds" who lack the drive that those "jocks" you talk about have. Even if that isn't the case, you still need a way to pay for that fancy degree.

So what if someone call you a nerd...people are haters.

I used to get called a bookworm/nerd, I got called a freak because I have piercings/tats, I am sure I qualify as nerd because I read forgotten realms novels like no other, I play magic, I play video games, I would play vampire the masquerade again if other people near me played it, I really like anime, I think science is fun, I actually enjoy school to some extent....and I wear glasses I used to get irritated at the term nerd, but now I say "hell yea I'm a nerd.. finished a bachelor degree in 3 years, applying to medical school in one year, I can speed read (always handy), competitive and strategic due to the gaming....." I see no downfalls in that!

Own the term nerd. Make it work for you and be proud of it.

So if someone says you are a nerd, be like "Damn straight I am a nerd. I bet you wished you had the strategic, detail oriented type of mind that I have. You want me to do your book report? Nah...you can't afford my skills"
U.S Army Vet, Mother & Wife, Pre-med student, Tatted/Pierced, Avid fantasy novel reader, Doodler/Photoshop-er of random things etc etc...

The next time somebody calls you a nerd, I suggest that you hit them extremely hard with your fist.  Then start beating your chest like a gorilla over their unconscious body, challenging all other males in the area for dominance, while simultaneously attracting all of the females to your alpha-ness.

I believe that everyone has the right to decide who they want to spend their life with.  If she doesn't want to spend her life with Jon Finkel, that's her choice.

That said, posting that article was kinda a **** move.

It was revealed to me in a dream.  All the cards were in my dream except for three slots which I plugged in as Vault Skirge.

FULL DISCLOSURE:  The dream was post AVR so there was a copy of Slayer's Stronghold.  I decided to keep it pre AVR in my post here.

EDIT: I just remembered.  The Skirges might have been 2x Whipflare and 1x something else, probably War and Peace.

EDIT2:  Currently 4-0 in my first four games with this.  My opponents have been very angry.  I fought off a Wurmcoil from Grixis for six turns before I found my second Dispatch.  Jeez, I can do a lot of damage.

EDIT3: Streak broken.  Lost to an unexpected Overrun.    Cracking a Shrine for 10 wasn't enough.

How Kedi tests his decks:

also, I've been playtesting this deck in my sleep today
