1) Lets say player A uses Murder "Destroy target creature" and player B uses an instant that gives target creature hex proof until end of turn. Is player A allowed to take back his Murder spell since that creature is no longer a valid target, is he able to choose a different creature, or is Murder countered and goes into the graveyard?

2) Question about Protection from color instant spell. Player A chooses attackers and player B chooses defender, player A then uses instant to give the attacking creature protection from color of your choice. Therefore is the defending creature unable to block that creature, can he choose to block another creature since the attacking creature has protection from that?

3) If you decide to use a spell on a target creature but you realize that it was an illegal action because you cannot target that creature because of its abilites. Are you allowed to take back the spell and untap the mana cost for it or is it put into the graveyard because of an illegal move?

1. Murder will fizzled (not countered) and goes to the grave
2. If player A cast it after blockers declared, the attacking creatures still blocked, however they won't be damaged by blocking creatures (due to protection).

1) Murder would fizzle in this instance and go to the grave with no effect.  You cannot choose new targets once you cast a spell.

2) If you give an attacker protection after it's been blocked, it's still blocked.  You delcare blockers only once during combat.  If you want the attacking creature to be unblockable you have to give it protection prior to the declaring of blockers.

3) Depends on how uptight your opponents are.  In casual you'll usually get to take back your action.
In a tournament you might receive a warning the first time, after that you'd better pay more attention to what's going on in the game.

yes, if it couldn't actually be targeted (protection, shroud or hexproof), but not for something like the ability on Frost Titan .

Likewise if you try to Cancel Emrakul, the Aeons Torn , the spell is legally cast so you can't back it up, but it won't counter Emrakul.

"fizzle" means "countered on resolution", so it is countered if there is something that cares about that

Regarding #3, I make it a habit to announce my spell before tapping the mana. This is so that even the most uptight player must allow me to untap my lands in a case where I accidentally tried to cast with an illegal target.

the rules for out of order sequencing let you untap the land even if you tap and then announce (as long as you say that you just did it out of order)

Can you retroactively say "I was doing it out of sequence" after you realised that it was a better play that putting mana in your pool and then casting a spell?

Is it relevant that you didnt announce that you were "floating mana" (or does that only matter if you pass priority before you spend it)?

That makes no sense to me.

If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed?

Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch . YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.
