If I cast Bonfire of the Damned and redirect the damage from the player to a planeswalker he or she controls, then none of the player's creatures will be dealt damage, right?  I'm thinking because the card reads, "...and each creature that player controls," if the damage is not dealt to a player then the creatures will not die.

The damage is dealt to creatures controlled by the spell's target, and redirecting the player portion of the damage won't change this.

Not correct. The spell is still targeting the player and therefore the game can make perfectly good sense of "each creature he or she controls" - "he or she" is still the player the spell is targeting, not the Planeswalker it's dealing damage to. The damage redirection rule has nothing to do with targeting.

You are all correct.  I wasn't thinking about the word "target."  It all makes sense.  I shouldn't really play this game at 2:30 in the morning.

The best time to play is whenever you can!

There is no time anyone should not play if they are not already occupied, and even then, you might be able to squeeze a game in.

If I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong, I still believe I'm right. Think of it as religion. dubito ergo sum.
