I think oversized cards make cool collectibles, but I agree that they shouldn't be given out with any degree of regularity.

I like the oversized Force of Will art. It actually looks like a counterspell, and likely inspired Stoic Rebuttal .

But yeah, they shouldn't be something we see a lot. They're not even that useful in EDH as a way to remember my general, because let's see my general list:

Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero N
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir N
Toshiro Umezawa N
Jaya Ballard, Task Mage N
Omnath, Locus of Mana N
Hanna, Ship's Navigator N
Oona, Queen of the Fae N
Borborygmos N
Radha, Heir to Keld N
Captain Sisay N
Rhys the Redeemed N
Sigarda, Host of Herons Y
Teysa, Orzhov Scion N
Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter N
Jhoira of the Ghitu N
Nin, the Pain Artist N
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind N

i like having them for commanders. Especially the ones that need counters on them.
When playing Commander, before you add a card to your deck, you have to ask yourself:
"Is this card better than Rings ?"
If you play commander and don't have your deck[s] in the Decklist Compendium, maybe you should. Or if you're new or looking into the format, the compendium has some good advice for beginners as well as decklists.

We should all have one of these playable from our sideboards

I liked them as a Promo, but that's about as far as it goes. I was rather surprised when my friend told me that I could have his because he didn't have anything to use it for. Of course, I didn't either, but I thought it was a nice novelty. I put mine in a picture frame and it's on my kitchen counter. I fed the one he gave me to my dog Decimal; I thought he would enjoy eating a large Magic card instead of just a couple of smaller ones from a Prerelease.

Aren't they only for EDH? What else could they be pushing them for? I mean, surely, they don't think that enough people are going to go out and buy a whole bunch of oversized Summon Legends such that they turn a meaningful profit. They should have learned that lesson from the all-foil Shards Cards they tried to push a while ago.

Mine have all been tossed into a shoebox where I keep old, empty deck boxes. Like the deck boxes, they'll probably never see use again.

I'm kinda just meh about them; got one at the AR Prerelease and thought it was a nice decoration, would probubly never use one in a match though.

Thank you Blitzschnell for the awesome banner!

Planechase, Vangaurd, Arch Enemy. Awesome. Commander, or just regular oversized regular card, even foil, I find USELESS. With their new commander arsenal coming out, they either replace the oversized cards with ACTUAL cards(regular size) or slash the price in HALF. Is ANYONE looking forward to the oversized cards in the new commanders arsenal?

Thank you everyone, for making my feelings about these cards seem warranted.  It seems most people agree that these over-sized cards are completely useless, a waste of cardboard and an insult to players when included in products that Wizards expects us pay for.

Just to make my opinion a little clearer:

I'm a fan of the oversized Planechase cards. Makes them feel special, and I think based on how they were designed, the oversized attribute is actually warranted. Also really gives them a ton of room to play with in terms of the artwork, which is really awesome. I'm sure this is similarly true for the Archenemy cards, but I've personally never played that format.

This is what I said in the initial post:

I was wondering how everyone felt about the over-sized cards Wizards has been pushing this past year.  I'm not talking about Planechase or Archenemy (as these cards are used in additional, supplimentary decks for their formats and are not meant to be included in your 60 or 100 card decks).  I'm talking about the ones in the Commander precons, the Helvault promotion at the prerelease and now this new product (which many seem to be disappointed with over in FSS)... the ones that are essentially useless in a game if you don't have the standard-sized version as well

I never asked what people thought about the over-sized cards included in the Planechase and Archenemy products (although many folks commented on those as well, which is fine), just the over-sized legendary creature cards intended for use in Commander (which, for the most part are used as "sturdy paper airplanes" instead).  I just want to make that clear here as well, just in case the eyes of a Wizards employee reviews this and we mistakenly get no more Planechase because they think we dispise all over-sized cards and not just the over-sized generals, which is actually the case...
