Sounds apropriate. Then again, I hate the Animorphs with a passion, so every single character is a villain to me.

Not all knowledge is Blue. Strategic and tactical knowledge is more a White thing. Blue gets scientific knowledge and arcane knowledge.

So I don't think Marco is really Blue. And he's definitely not Black, because "fighting to protect the people he loves" is pretty much the exact opposite of "selfish". As has been said, that's Red.

So I'm actually leaning towards White/Red for Marco. An empathic, caring tactician. One who always knows the right time to crack a joke to relieve group tension/stress (definitely not a Blue trait).

I do think he is hybrid coloured on /, though. On other words, /.

Again, I find all Animorph characters to be hateable. Tobias is ironically the only one I can tolerate.

But he's not selfish at all, really... At first, he wanted to stop fighting, not to save his own skin, but because his dad couldn't bear to lose him. And then, he wants to fight to save someone very important to him. Never does he do anything out of truly selfish reasons. He's not Black, hybrid or otherwise.

Again, I find all Animorph characters to be hateable. Tobias is ironically the only one I can tolerate.

Any particular reason why?

In before it turns out to have been a bad idea to open this particular can of worms... >_>

Shamsiel, is hatred just, like, your fetish?

There's a difference between tactics and strategy. I think White gets tactics, and Blue gets strategy.

Deadpan Snarking can go into every color. And I wouldn't say he's a empathic caring tactician. He can be absolutely ruthless (less than Jake, in a way, but still...). He was willing to kill of his own mother because that was the best move.

Edit: @Keeper & Shamsiel: I'd like to ask you both the calm down. Nothing has happened yet, and I'm sure we'd all like to keep it that way.

I didn't mean the deadpan snark. I meant his ability to read the emotions of the group and know the exact right time to tell the joke, and when not to. Blue doesn't have nearly that grasp on empathy; Red does.

And I was talking about the earlier story. All of them are pretty ruthless in the final story arc, but they're also not really purely heroic either. At any rate, his motivation the entire time wasn't himself, but others (his family, mainly, but his friends as well). Black doesn't care about others, at least not more than about itself; again, that's Red.

back on topic, I think that U/B can be perfectly heroic.

Blue wants everything to be perfect. perfectly ordered, perfectly logical, perfectly mapped, perfectly understood. just perfect.

It achieves this by testing testing testing until things break, figuring out what went wrong, and learning from the experience. it will horde knowledge, in case it can be reused later.

Black wants power. It wants control. Black knows what it wants, and how to get it. It's all about the ends. ends that will justify any means at all. if the goal isn't worth your soul, the soul of everyone you love, and the blood of your first born son, you're not aiming high enough.

what's the common theme here? improvement. optimization. removing flaws. seeking new, better things.
neither blue nor black sees ambition as a flaw. so why not let it run wild with utopian visions? U/B is at it's best when it already has a sizable power base, when it can afford to try things out and make a few mistakes.

A U/B hero is looking to make a perfect world with them self at the helm. as long as it's idea of perfection isn't too far off from anyone else, we should be fine.

Black/Blue isn't about Utopia... that's White...

Black is about power and self-improvement, sure... but it doesn't SHARE that easily.

And Blue doesn't much care who it hurts as it searches for knowledge, and is more about the theory than the implementation. It would be happy to theorize about a perfect world, but the effort needed to make that world would probably turn it off, without a White side.
