Imaginary Pet "Imaginary Pet's ability triggers only if you have cards in your hand as your upkeep begins, and the ability checks again as it resolves. If your hand is empty at both those times, Imaginary Pet stays on the battlefield."
The first sentence is okay, but the last one sounds like you need your hand empty as the upkeep begins and as the ability resolves to let it stay. It should be "If you hand is empty at any of those times, Imaginary Pet stays on the battlefield."

Minor nitpick, but I think it would sound better if it used either instead of any. "If your hand is empty at either of those times..."

No I think thats the point. Your hand has to be empty at both those times to let it remain. If you had an instant, then cast it in your upkeep in response to the trigger you should not keep the pet on the field.

No, that's not how the Pet works. The intervening-if clause means it won't return if your hand is empty at either time.
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary
