My current list for my MBC is very good, in my opinion. I went to a Pro tour qualifier yesterday and went 5-3 with this exact list. I need help pushing this deck over the top, from good to amazing. I would like the community to help me!
First: No, I am not going to play trading post. Second: Sideboard needs the most improvement. Third: Thanks in advance, but i'll still probably reply with a thank you to a helpful post. So, here it is. Main Deck: 60 [ Lands: 24 4 Inkmoth Nexus 20 Swamp Planeswalkers: 3 3 Liliana of the Veil Artifacts: 5 2 Lashwrithe 1 Batterskull 2 Sphere of the Suns Sorceries: 14 1 Despise 2 Duress 4 Sign in Blood 3 Mutilate 3 Distress 1 Sever the Bloodline Creatures: 10 3 Disciple of Bolas 4 Vampire Nighthawk 1 Grave Titan 1 Massacre Wurm 1 Wurmcoil Engine Instants: 4 1 Go for the Throat 1 Doom Blade 2 Tragic Slip ] Sideboard: 15 2 Nihil Spellbomb 2 Curse of Death's Hold 1 Grave Titan 1 Massacre Wurm 1 Doom Blade 1 Go for the Throat 1 Sever the Bloodline 1 Distress 1 Duress 1 Sheoldred, Whispering One 1 Grafdigger's Cage 1 Tragic Slip 1 Tribute to Hunger I have the Inkmoth Nexus' in there to equip with Lashwrithe as an alternative win condition, and it actually works. Suggestions, i'd love to hear them.
I love Disciple of Bolas as much as the next card drawing junkie...but I'm not seeing its purpose here. You only have 1 creature of 4 cmc or less and it's a creature you don't ever really want to sac to him. If you're sacrificing your Titans, then I'd ask the question, "Why not just win with those cards instead?"
I do like the Inkmoth tech though, and it makes sense to have with Lashwrithe.
The disciple is there to sacrifice tokens, mostly. I usually sacrifice the lashwrithe living weapon token, batterskull token or even one of the Grave Titan tokens.
I almost never sacrifice one of my bombs. Only time I would ever do that would be to dig for a board sweeper when I am dead on board.
I'd want at least 8-12 viable targets to sac to disciple, prefferably of 4 cmc or less. If you're not getting value you're just casting a bad Grizzly Bear
I think i'll cut one for something, I don't know yet, but keep two in.
Any sideboard suggestions? I seem to always do terrible against delver.
Updated the list once more.
The deck is much better, in my opinion.
why all the one-ofs? I don't see any tutor effects in this list.
maybe turn that Despise into a Duress, etc
I guess I just don't understand how this is control.
5 Kill cards. 6 Discard Cards 3 Field Wipes. 10 Creatures 3 Artifact-like creatures. I've seen more control in a exalted deck.
I made a blue black control deck about two weeks ago and I havent lost a standard tournament yet. I generally use Black Suns Zenith over Mutilate because for 3 mana it gets rid of tokens and it shuffles back into the library. My wincons are phyrexian Obliterator, mimic vat, Blood artist and Bloodline keeper. Nothing says **** you like using a field wiping spell with 2 blood artists on the field. I only really use blue for snapcasters negates and ponders, it can be easily removed. I prefer Geth's Verdict and Tragic slip as my kill cards with a few doom blades/go for the throats. Liliana of the Veil is great but if you are running inkmoth nexus and lashwrithe I believe running a few solemn and Liliana of the dark realm would benefit you more. Mana advantage and you can make your inkmoth a wincon more often.
