Dunno if this has ended already but im just gonna post for the fun of it.
Voidthought Cost B Sorcery
Miracle B Choose a card type other than basic land. Target opponent reveals his or her hand and you choose a card of that type from it. That player discards that card. If you paid the miracle cost, search that player's graveyard, hand, and library for all cards with the same name as that card and exile them. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
"After that gruesome experience all she wished for was to forget."

Night of Slaughter by turnip_song is very interesting in that the purpose of the miracle cost seems primarily to allow you to Murder out-of-color. I guess what is missing for me is still why it's a black miraculous event.
I meant to edit the flavour text to make my intent clearer, then completely forgot. The idea was that most of the time the night has been a time of random death meted out by monsters, and most of the time you play the card that's what it represents. When a miracle occurs, however, humanity is able to tip the balance and itself have the power to kill, hence the dropping of all black from the cost.

Third place, with one vote each, an 8-way tie :/ Imidazoline, Sebanovich, Zokorad, myself, Vlord, Confused as Usual, CKY, and Aviv_DS_Knight
hmm... Did not expect that. Oh well, +10 BRAGGING RIGHTS each
Second place, two votes
Overturn the Stars by Dream Spinner +20 BRAGGING RIGHTS
First place, three votes
Cheat Fate by Articuno +30 BRAGGING RIGHTS
All in all, the "people can vote for themselves" thing rendered something like 8 votes for themselves. I must admit that surprises me, because both of my previous two contests that allowed people to vote for themslves had no such problem.
I realize that "black miracle" is a much more narrow design space than a specter or an alternate win condition, but I fail to see how that would entice people to vote for themselves more than usual.
Any ideas? Is it just a bad idea to allow people to vote for themselves? What would you have done differently? I love hearing constructive criticism for my contests, because I feel it makes each additional one that much better.
My own review of each card and Judge's vote will be soon to follow.

Thanks for the votes guys, and double thanks to those you reminded me that I needed the reveal clause to make the card make sense

Did you explicitly say that you could vote for yourself in both previous contests? I seem to recall in the first one you didn't, until asked to clarify. Maybe the fact that you made it clear from the start that you could vote for yourself is the reason this turned out differently?
And yeah, my opinion is to disallow self-voting. The purpose of the contest isn't to win, but to encourage a forum of discussion on your own and others' card designs, fitting a certain criteria. People who vote for themselves don't discuss anything.

haha, I was my own deciding vote
I'm still fine with self-voting; if the point isn't to win, then it shouldn't matter whether we all vote for ourselves or whatever. Whether or not discussion happens is not dependent on this.

I usually do a vote for three, that way you can vote for yourself (if you think you deserve it), but you also vote for two other people... and/or rank the submissions in order of best to worst... (that one really depends on how many submissions you have though). Both of these tend to be successful.
