Before we lose Solemn Simulacrum , and the Wellspring artifacts, with the addition of Gilded Lotus , I want to believe that Big Red is viable in this format. Sweepers like Whipflare, Bonfire, and Slagstorm supplemented with artifact rampers mentioned above, do you think there is a list that can truly compete with T1/T2 decks? I would throw together a list, but I'm more or less trying to see if anyone else is thinking the same way I am about this.... So what do you think? What other cards might make Big Red possible right now before RTR?
Residual energetic and psychic emenations from the spark of planewalkers going in and out of the blind eternities like it was a windmill eventually coalesced into beings named eldrazi who by their very nature could not consume mundane sources of nourishment to sustain their existence.

I've had varying success with big red, all in all, I don't actually find Solemn Simulacrum to be as large of a player as he previously was. The Wellsprings, Koth, and Batterskull are actually far more important. But even without them, we still have the big names such as... Thundermaw Hellkite Bonfire of the Damned Cavern of Souls My current incarnation I feel is very swingy. Either anti-control or anti-aggro. I can't really pin down the happy middle ground. However, Ravnica is coming. And with it, multicolor. While Scars does hold some gems, I'm really holding out for what Ravnica brings to the table. At the very least, it should have better mana-fixing, comparable ramp, and more colors bring bigger bombs.

I think Magmaquake will give you more bang for your buck then Bonfire will in this kind of deck.

I don't really like Koth in this format, at least not for now. I think you're best bet if you're going the wellspring/solemn package is to add at least 1 more color. I like black for more removal and disruption. Nihil Spellbomb is also a pretty nice tool for combatting Rancor decks, as well as Delver and any reanimation package. I've been playing a B/R control deck like this for the last few days and it has performed well. Having access to fireballs ( Devil's Play and Red Sun's Zenith ) makes all the excess mana you generate from wellsprings and robots worth the effort. Still, you'll probably just lose to any blue based control deck you might come across. If any still exist...
